The part u r confused about: On 2012, EXO-K and EXO-M debuted but performed separately. After their debut, they went on a year hiatus and made a comeback on 2013 as EXO. At that time, both EXO-K and EXO-M existed but they still performed as one under name of EXO. Only on 2016, when 3 Chinese members left after 2015, that EXO-M was officially dissolved. But since 2013, EXO all performed together as one (both korean version & chinese version). The only difference is that during the korean version music video, EXO-K sang majority of the song while in the Chinese verion of the same music video, EXO-M sang majority of the song. EXO used to release two version of the same song. Korean and Chinese.

They sang both versions of each comeback title track with a mv except Obsession didn't have a mv for the Chinese version sadly..I personally love Exo-m especially when it comes to Rapping Idk hearing them rap in mandarin sounds so great and I prefer their Korean version when it comes to vocals especially the long notes are killers❤

Yes, SM's idea to create groups specifically for the Chinese market was unique and groundbreaking, but EXO was not the first group SM did this with. Super Junior was the first Kpop group to break into the Chinese market with their sub-unit Super Junior-M. Super Junior-M was the group that created the possibility for EXO-M to even exist.(Super Junior/SJ-M was the very first Kpop group to have non-Korean members and they were the first group to have Chinese members specifically chosen to help the group break into the Chinese music industry.) It was the success of Super Junior-M that made SM even consider creating EXO-M, and its EXO-M's success that is the reason why WayV now exists. SM has been setting trends and making headway into foreign music markets since Super Junior-M's debut in 2008.

Milinda Wilson small correction: since BoA’s debut in 2001, SM has long since been making headway into the foreign music markets ... even if you’re talking about boy groups, we still have DBSK/TVXQ. BUT you are correct in that Suju-M made headway into the Chinese market allowing EXO-M to exist :)

@@baexolife7782 Yes, you are right BoA really started it all when she broke into the Japanese market, and I am fully aware of TVXQ and SHINee's marks they made in Japan as well, but I was more focusing on China, and Super Junior was the group that began the move in that direction. EXO debuted on April 08, 2012. I became an EXO-L later that year. I still remember I waited almost a year for them. EXO went on a hiatus for a year which is not common for a group who just debuted. But, I was amazed more to myself that I waited that long for a new group. That was the time I realized that EXO is a no ordinary group. They made me wait haha. That long period though, I took the time to know more and dig deep about each member. I watched every shows even the Chinese shows. I’m thankful as an international EXO-L for the fans who subbed each show. You already know that EXO has sub-units: EXO-K and EXO-M. After debut, each group promoted in their respective market: K in Korea & M in China. After a long hiatus. EXO came back as one and promoted in both countries with their song Wolf. They got their first ever music show win (which is probably a very important achievement for any group especially rookies). That’s why a lot of them cried. As what is said in the video, EXO didn’t they will hit it big. There came GROWL: EXO’s representative song. The song that made them famous in whole of Korea. With Growl repackaged, they became a Million Seller (no group did that for 12 yrs). They received a lot of opportunities and there schedule are jam-packed. EXO Showtime was filmed. They received their first ever daesangs. They will be having their first ever concert tour titled, ‘EXOPLANET #1: The Lost Planet’. Their peak year is definitely 2013. Everything’s doing fine. Little did EXO know, a huge news will occur that will give impact to the group and the fans. Another chapter they need to face. 2014 Please do continue. Thank you for reacting to this fanvideo!! ☺️

I think you have the times mixed up. All through the years this first vid covered (up until 2013) they were still all 12 full members and still working with the EXOM+EXOK structure (I think). When it said it came back as a sole group (or something) it meant that for that song, the group made the MV with all 12 members. It was "Wolf" (May 2013). Bear in mind that the members who left started doing so after "Overdose" (May 2014) and the video just got to "Growl" (Jul 2013). I hope that helps! (Sorry if I got somethign wrong, I suck at keeping info to detail) Good luck with the rest of this crash course! :P

Yes, SM is mostly just interested in making money. Yet they are known for the company that spends millions in producing mvs and concerts. Baekhyun was put through the ringer for dating. He went through so much hate that those ass***e immature fans wanted him out of Exo. I am a NORMAL Exol since 2011 and felt nothing but sorrow for Baekhyun and for the members who left. There's no tolerance for racism anywhere, and that's how the 3 Chinese members were treated, unfairly because they were not Korean. And yes, they all were overworked to the point of exhaustion and injury. Eventually your body breaks down and on the 100th time doing the same flip you hurt yourself. All the members pretty much lived in fear of not doing well, all the members got hurt, or if they were sick.... we're told to suck it up and perform, in fear of angering the managers and possibly losing their jobs, which is what it is, basically this is their job......being pushed so hard, no vacation, working ungodly long hours with very little sleep, horrible diets and being malnourished, but yet satisfying the company with album sales and awards. Happy SM? All members at a point said all they dreamed about was sleeping for 2, 3 days straight. It was a shock to the members that Kris left without a word, then Luhan. They relied on each other like brothers so it was devastating. And I was just praying Tao wouldn't go. But he was hurting. And don't tell me the Korean members didn't see the treatment the Chinese members were going through. Yet are they able to speak up in spite of their jobs? Careers? I don't think so. In an industry where I've seen groups last 6 months, a year, 2 years and dissappear WITHOUT controversy....that's how easy it is to loose your career due to controversy or dating. And losing your fandom is very crucial to your success. So although no one wants to hear from the pissed off immature fans who could very easily manipulate the group in the news and social media....very easy, very scary and very real. Thank god there are more NORMAL fans than ass***e fans that rally together to support Exo to this day. At the time Lay and Chen and Chanyeol wrote the song "PROMISE", because of the members that left, Exo members were scared and thought it would be the end for them, that their fans would leave and the group would disband. They in essence pleaded to the fans to please believe in them, that they would do their best to make them happy if they stuck with them. Plus they knew all too well every year there is always someone younger and fresher waiting in the shadows. They say a group must have "it" if they made it past 5 years. I think with the exception of military time, Exo still has it. That's why they are the Nation's pick. That's why they went to the Blue House and shook hands with Trump and Ivanka. But they knew what they were getting into when they signed the dotted line. And a 10-year contract? Are you kidding me? That sounds like a prison contract, stuck whether you make it or not, having to do whatever they want or pay them back for the years of money they couldn't make off of you if you go to court to get out of the contract. But in all actuality those 10 years went by in a flash for me, I just hope Exo continues as a group in the coming years, their contracts are up next year, they may have their own plans in life, your body can't dance like the young days anymore as they get older. The sad fact of being an idol. I would hope through NORMAL fans like me the sign of the times start to change for the better, regarding dating and treatment of your clients. Right now Exo is on tour and hasn't had a break all year. Military service is looming for a few, so idk what SM is going to do with Exo. I just don't want them to be forgotten. They are a great group. Thanks for all your reactions guys.💖

Oh it’s not here. So EXO K and EXO M debuted separately and many criticized that EXO is SM biggest mistake because they are not that big when they debuted (many have big expectations because they are from Big3 company which is SM) EXO first fansign only have 18 fans attended. EXO’s first salary is a bag of rice they earn from performing and they’re so happy receiving it. Many people think EXO is somewhat a ridiculous group because of their concept (superpowers) they were being criticized a lot about that tbh. But now it’s our pride coz they have the most unique concept for a kpop group!

there were still exo-k & exo-m n 2013..but they promoted as one mostly & as sub-units as well..up until 2014..they prmoted their title tracks & some sidetracks as one lyk wolf, growl, miracles n december, christmas day, overdose, thunderr..but their alvums tsill r by sub-units..it's jst that title tracks have lyk 4 ver..2 korean w/ 1 evrybdy singing & 1 w/ exo-k..2 chinese ver w/ 1 eveybdy singing & 1 w/ exo-m only..hope u get me.. hope u react 2 exo achievements by momma k exo-l..so u can have a more clear info..pls..thanks a lot! 😀

EXO really started nothing and recieved a lot of humiliatiom since they came from big3. But they proved them wrong being the youngest group to win Daesang just one year after their debut.
