Great to see you having a wander round my local city! Cant remember the last time I went to Nottingham, sadly. If you get chance, I'd love to see you visit Glossop or Hadfield (where they filmed the League of Gentlemen). Thanks for this great video!

It looks a nice city- about 3 hours by train from where I live. I'll most likely visit sometime this year.

Born and bred in Nottingham. I live in West Bridgford. I highly reccomend Wollaton Park, Cotgrave Country Park and Rushcliffe Country Park in Ruddington. All a short distance from the city and all great for a walk on a nice day. Bestwood Country Park is ok too.

Some lovely architecture like Severn House 🏠 and the Old Market Square. The trams 🚊 reminds of my time in Poland.

Born here now back home I don't know of a warmer more inclusive city. For the record Robin Hood of legend fought the Sheriff of Nottingham. Nottingham at that time was part of South Yorkshire so the Sheriff governed this whole area. Being under the White Rose Richard the 3rd stayed at the castle & left with his army to fight at Bosworth. The present gateway at the castle dates from this period. That's why East Midlands people (Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & especially Derbyshire) have a similar accent to those near you. Our accents are based within a South Yorkshire dialect & people from the south mistakes us as Northerners. We are not, we are from the East Midlands. Brummies, everyone's idea as typical Midlands people, & always friendly, are from the West Midlands X

Hi. I really enjoyed your tour of the city centre. The hour bell in the Council House belfry is called Little John cf Big Ben in the Elizabeth Tower in London. It has been used by the BBC on occasions to replace Big Ben for the live broadcast of the hour tolling, when the latter was not available. They sound the same. 😃

As you left Excahnge arcade and looked across to the pretty windows of Zara, this building was the 2nd of John " Boots" Chemist shops and retains the lovely window shaping. His first ever Boots the Chemist was on Goose Gate which is a little further back nearer the Hockley area.

Great Video. Pity The Canal House pub didn't get mentioned. It must be quite unique in having a barge moored up actually in the pub.

Technically that would be West Bridgford, top schools and very family oriented.. also some of the most expensive parts of the city to live though. Wollaton seems very pleasant, and Beeston/ Chilwell have some very nice areas. Arnold also seems popular

Thanks. Big city. What's the parking like ? Are the Caves by the Castle ? Also how far is the river from City Centre ?

Hey! There are quite a few parking spots in the centre such as Maid Marian way car park. You'll see a few of them if you look on google. You can book to go down some caves at the castle - Mortimer's hole being the most famous which has quite a bit of history attached to it. Other Cave entrances are available in the City centre. The River Trent is about 20-30 minute walk from the centre depending how fast you walk. But you can get a bus there also if you don't fancy going on foot. It's really not that bad to get too, and you have some brilliant pubs/ sport stadiums and restaurants nearby and along the way.

Nottinghams official population is very misleading,as Nottingham has the tightest city boundaries of any UK city…Nottingham is actually the 2nd most populous city in the Midlands after Birmingham, with a suburban population of more than 920.000.*…This figure does not even include the greater metropolitan population..*Wiki

Nottingham has an ominous feel to it. It's not ugly but I find it rather bland and some of the people I've met there are truly weird and devoid of any warmth. Derby, Leicester, Birmingham and Nottingham are places I'd happily never visit again. Bland with miserable people. People living by the seaside are almost like from another planet, warm, easy going, with a community spirit. Sorry but just what I've experienced.

If that’s your experience then nobody can argue it wasn’t. I’ve not had the same experience personally - never really had any issues in any of the places
