As a huge admirer of Novak's allround game and skill sets, its quite saddening to see his forehand being just a shade of this version. His absolute dominance here was because his reflexes, athleticism, forehand and backhand all were in sync(amazing level) but nowadays his forehand is all over the place and has become a big reason for his decline.. His fitness though not at all the way it used to be but still can match the best on Tour.. Only if he rectifies his Forehand puzzle somehow, he can still be the one to beat.

" instead of rallying, Djokovic is hitting the ball a little earlier and a little freer than normal. being able to do those two things - the result was indeed a very perfect match. Rafa was great to just aknowledge what was happening. When Rafa first entered matches against Federer, Federer was doing what Djokovic did here for significant moments in his tennis. Rafa was insane and refused to back down. It really rattled Federer. Here Rafa is in retirement mode and if he played like this against Federer originally, he would have been just another victim.

He pulled off a miracle in Monte-Carlo, but other than that, there was nothing to speak of. At AO & FO 2015, he reached quarters, but got absolutely annihilated in both of them, and since then, he played 5 majors, and didnt get past 4R in any of them, also making his career worst performance at AO, losing in the 1R, the only time he ever lost in the first round of a Grand Slam barring Wimbledon 2013 (if we dont count 2024 FO, which i think there is no point in counting, since Nadal wasn't even at 10% of his peak clay game)
