I remember that at one point in this match Medvedev began serving only big "first serves", no precaution of producing the double fault whatsoever. Although he did have some double faults, it worked! This man is completely crazy.

That was the key to his success in this match... He knew he was disrupting Novak's rhythm with his big 1st and 2nd serves.... He gambled on it and it paid him big time even if he hit a few double faults

It was in the 2nd set. I was there, and it was something to behold how the anti-Nole crowd came alive when he got up a break. Nole looked around like he was completely surrounded and Nole he had no answer from there. Not just the bombs away from Med but taking serves so deep, just getting everything back and putting pressure on Nole to make ridiculous shots to beat him.

One of the rare instances of Novak being at his best yet being completely outplayed. It seems destined we were looking at a future grand slam champion. God mode medvedev is close to unbeatable. Medvedev wasn't at his best in the first set he was playing ok but when that changed and when he raised his level Novak could barely hang with him. So when you think about it it's really no surprise that a subpar novak couldn't touch medvedev in the us open final, when even a prime one struggles so much.
