Novation Launchkey pad sensitivity fix

Just done this - thanks mate, works a treat. Bit of a faff getting the screws to just the right tightness, but well worth it to be able to do proper finger drumming. Nice one!

Definitely worth it! Makes useless pads to actually useful ones! What thickness parts did you use for the keyboard?

@@BTA_KeepItFunI’m not sure, I got someone else to print them off for me - I had to loosen some of the screws on the main casing as well, otherwise some of the pads were constantly held down. Feels like Novation have designed the pads to be manufactured easily rather than to be useful for their intended purpose

Same story with Korg Electribe 2 (grey) I bought second hand one and conductive film was washed off by coffee and "cigarette" someone who tried to fix it. First of all I make my own compound of trolley bus carbon brush and varnish (dry compound should have 40kOhm per 1 cm). After squares was ready I found that pads have late night sensitivity and I found fix, just taped some film on the rubber pad between film and started tightening screws. Some pads was too sensitive, some was ok. Because of metal frame of electribe 2 and warped plastic bottom in corners pads was not even in sensitivity. Removing from some pads layers of tape and adding some to others got smooth even and crazy responsive Gr8 Electribe 2 then.

For me that's too much work for too little reward, but I commend your ability and effort. Nice to see people pulling off these kinds of workarounds. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

I was so disappointed with those pads, so for me it was pretty exciting to make it better. :)

@@BTA_KeepItFun I researched online before buying and people did say the pads were hard to press. Bought one anyway :D

Will this work with the Launchkey Mini MK3? Those pads are overly sensitive and not adjustable software wise?

I dont think so if your problem is opposite than mine was. You could take it a part and loosen the pad screws just a bit to make it more loose = making it less sensitive? Let me know if this helped.

Which one of the thickness from 0.2 to 0.8 should you start with?

Depends a bit on your print quality and how hard its for you to activate pads. Try 4x 0.3 pads placed in a rectangle and see if it's too much and activates it without touching. Also depends on the tightness of the screws
