Tolkien expressed in multiple occasions he didn't like the use of allegory and particularly on the scourging of the shire had nothing to do with events occured during world war II or after and that in any case it was shaped by his childhood in England. Regardless, it probably was cut because it was the the easiest part to remove without affecting the main storyline just like Tom Bombadil's in order to account for the time constraints of film which are much more stringent than in books.

Godzilla Minus One is one of the greatest movies of all time and I can’t recommend it enough.

Saw Nefarious twice now. The Exorcist never really scared me. Oddly, nothing demonic does as far as movies are concerned. I hope that should a demon ever want to frighten me in real life I'd be like St. Teresa "Oh, it's you again" and go back to sleep. ;-)

The ending totally turned me off of Nefarious... The Exorcist is such a wonderful example of a religious movie done right. The First Omen that just came out, a prequel to The Omen (1976), is also fantastic - a literal rallying cry for people to go back to church and be faithful to Christ and his church (not your average horror prequel).

I wish you would let me send you my book, Run, a Catholic sci fi novel. I would have to send it because no one will carry it. It praises and showcases traditional Catholicism, including mass in the hold of a spaceship, but Angelus Press won't carry it because my name does not appear on the front cover (the work of the cover artist who too late discovered the book was traditional and found that other way to sabotage it; the writer's must appear on the front). And another strike against it for a lot of tradition, the girls wear pants (well, duh, in space). Many sites won't take it because Muslims are not the bad guys, but in fact help Catholics escape Earth's first space colony, and go with them to an asteroid hidden in the Oort Cloud). Novus Ordo sites won't take it because the heroes are traditional. And the rest of America won't look because it's Catholic. So. You could read the first chapters at the book's site, and I be honored to send you a copy. I swear you'll like it! The science is authentic excepting the length of the trip to the Oort Cloud (I hate fantasy, such a cheap dodge). Here's the site: malapertpress.wordpress.com .
