This situation of fraud you described is why I never use my debit card or anything tied to my actual money. I always use a credit card and if I see fraud, I report it immediately but I’m comforted that my actual money is not touched. I also earn points to free gift cards by using my credit card. Ha! We hate credit cards, but we have one for online purchases only. At least that way if something is fraud, we're not out the money while they sort out the paperwork.

Ditto plus I us a points card to receive cash back which I use on Amazon. I also pay it off as soon as I use it

That’s exactly why I keep my cards :) as someone who’s been affected by fraudulent debit card charges before, I never want to spend days haggling with the bank to get MY money back 😭

Interested to know how Ally handles everything for you. I have a savings account with them and it’s been great, but always slightly concerning that it’s all online only so o can’t drive down to a physical bank to talk to a real persons. I’m so sorry this happened to you and hope it works out ok
