Stihl provides great service manuals that explain everything in detail. Sometimes reading the instructions can save time and frustration.

I've been watching you bring more and more Stihl saws to the show. I'm beginning to think that you secretly like Stihl Chainsaws 😉

Meee tooo and I have to do it more often than any saw I've ever owned. The normal maintenance on this thing is ridiculous to keep it running optimum. Thanks for time my friend.

Honestly at first I hated working on stihls but I’ve been running an 066 and a 461 all year and after getting used to how these 2 saws go together I find them easer to work on than huskies…except the impulse line. Damn those impulses. This stihl looks god awful compared 😂

For reselling these, you can dress it up easily. Remove the bar and spray gasket remover on it and let it sit for a couple hours. All that old bar paint will come right off (i use a small brush to easily scrub it off). I then put oil on bar to preserve it. Those old metal clutch covers can be painted with Rustoleum's Farm and Implement aerosol paint, in Ford Gray. Its more of a tanish gray and matches Stihl color great. Those 2 easy improvements make the saw look much cleaner. Just fyi friend

Not difficult, just different, a little complex sometimes, but when you get to know the ins,and outs, not too bad.As far as sitting down. What are you supposed to do when you're half asleep, piss all over the bathroom? Mama be mad,you do that. Just sit down, and relax. Take a little nap.

There is supposed to be to be a bolt that comes thru the filter with a wing nut to hold it on.

Stihl saws and brush cutters definitely aren't the easiest to work on. You should have no problem making a good profit from that purchase!

Need a ring of axle grease around the bottom edge of your filter and you won’t get the fines though into your intake! A foot off a pair of Queen size pantyhose with a fat rubber band around the base of the filter is an excellent prefilter! Is it the 441cm or do you have the adjustable carburetor??? 50mm Xtorq design… like a 372xtorqer!!! The piston interchanges with the 372 Xtorq! LMFFAO!!! Don’t run quite a good!!!!

Just took my first MS290 apart. What a pain in the ass. Why Stihl makes everything so overly complicated is beyond me... I will say the 026/MS260 isn't a bad saw to work on though. Just crappy air filter design lol.
@brendanfromnz

The reason I believe is simple. They don't want the average Joe Bloggs home mechanic screwing around with their saws at home. They want you to take it to their authorised dealer and pay the trained tech $100 an hour or whatever the going rate is these days to fix it. Once you figure them out and get used to them though, they're not too bad. Not so much difficult, just different.

Only thing I dislike about Stihl is having to go to a dealer for parts or pay overpriced on eBay. Worst part is when closest dealer is a ace hardware. 441 are the worst ones I have ever delt with.

Funny all the Stihl guys complain about husky and vise versa. I guess it's just ford v Chevy kinda thing. I've always ran Stihl as that's all that's in my area, but I've always wanted to try the husky 372 as I hear it's legendary.

When you finally get a chance to run one, keep in mind...there are faster, torquer, lighter, smoother saws. But nothing puts them all together as well as an original edition 372xp. It also responds very very well to modifications and is incredibly reliable. Straight knocked it outta the park with all the "3" series pro saws. Non XTORQ, that is. The XTORQ saws just aren't quite as nice.

@@novicelumberjack thanks for the feedback. I'm currently running a 461 stock, pulling a 28" bar for my big saw. I don't have a lot of complaints so far. Have a wonderful thanksgiving brother.
