The Penitent may be technically able to fight four times, but with 7 wounds, she will be lucky to survive four Fight actions.

Whip into frenzy let's you take a free fight action, then Absolution through Destruction adds another free fight after that. So the real utility is being able to fight twice then have a third APL for other actions.

With Blessed Rejuvenation, pretty easy to survive 4 fight actions as long as a) you have the faith points to spend on each action, as you heal after that action before the next fight, and b) you're fighting non-scary stuff like fists or combat knives.

Yeah. I assume GW let the four fight wording through because it'll never actually happen. At 7hp, she'll die in fight two. Three if she's lucky, and then only if you've somehow managed to charge into control range of three enemies at once.

I keep reading it and listening to you and I feel like Penitent 4x fight is deliberate. 1) The rules go out of their way to say the whip bonus applies to both the first fight action and the free fight action 2) The whip bonus itself costs 1 action, meaning you already gave up a move or an attack on the Exactor to get the bonus. Most of this time that amounts to turning the 3 weaker attacks from the Exactor into 4 (+4) slightly stronger Penitent attacks 3) If you can’t use it to attack again when whipped, you’d literally never whip the Penitent-the person the Exactor is most explicitly there to whip. That’s what Penitent’s are-screw ups that need whipping to go berserk & earn redemption. 4) It’s an all eggs in one basket combo Wombo. You must, at minimum, have your best melee, your dedicated melee buffer, and some third model (assuming you want to buff two) in the same place, and you must dump a lot of resources into the penitent to keep her alive through that many fights. Plus, you need your opponent to helpfully provide enough targets (either something with an awful lot of wounds/durability, or many somethings) in one place for the Penitent to use up all those fights against.

@@CanYouRollaCrit Would you still feel that way if the profile was a flat 8 attacks and had no abolition through destruction? So it would just be fight twice like any model? As it’s written now, it’s actually weaker than an 8 attack profile, since you must live through every set of 4 attacks/defends to use the next set. Also, it seems very carefully worded to say 4x fights are possible: “you cannot perform more than two fight actions in succession *as a result of this rule* “ 1st Fight Action “as a result of” spending 1 AP to fight 2nd Fight Action “as a result of” being whipped. 3rd Fight action “as a result of” absolution through destruction. 4th fight action “as a result of” being whipped. To me, this clearly states that AoD can’t trigger twice in the sequence and that you can’t use it to proc itself. (As in, having another fight as a result of the fight action you performed via AoD). I think you’re correct the FAQ will have to address it either to clarify that this is the intention or to rule it out, but the wording going out of its way to say it can’t trigger itself, but that ship bonus applies to both the one you paid for with AP and the AoD fight makes it excruciatingly clear that 4x 4 attacks, assuming you live through each set of 4, is the intended combination.

With Holy Embrocations the nanomine would still work, as the equipment specifically states "from being injured".

I think novitiate superior I would still take plasma since you heal the possible damage from overcharge just by spending a single faith point.

@@CanYouRollaCrit I can see where you are coming from and that was my initial reaction as well, but the more I think about how the games are likely to play out the more I think you need that extra oomph. As far as I can tell the game plan for the team now is all about using faith points to fix your defenses enough to survive attacks and then heal up passively with that strat ploy. Being able to move-dash shoot with a big overcharged shot fixed by your faith points is how you take out enemy gunners who's attacks no amount of faith would let you survive.

@DeMause but the Bolt Pistol is 3/5 and will be P1 with the equipment. At lethal 5 and FP, it's still much more reliable whereas with the pistol, supercharging to be base 4 damage isn't worth it imo as then you have to spend more resources to heal

@@CanYouRollaCrit well that depends on wound breakpoints really. If you are up against a team with 9 wounds or 14 wounds the overcharged plasma performs a lot better. I don't consider it extra resource expenditure since you get so many FP and I think you would always have the healing ploy active from turn 2 onwards.

@@CanYouRollaCrit On the other hand...there is limitation, that no more than two fights can be performed in succession, and next fight has to be immediately after firstone. And from my understanding whip would get another set of such two fights for free. So only way to get four fights, would be whip penitent, which is already in control range of enemy, start action with double fight, kill oponent (and stay alive with mere 7 wounds; although faith healing could help with that), charge something else (it has to be in range) and only then get second set of double fight. So maaaaaybe it is not that OP... but sounds OP still.

The wording is weird but the real utility is that your first double-fight action is free if she's whipped, so that you can charge, double fight, then still do a third action.

The planets REALLY have to align to actually fight 4 times. I have to already be in melee AND I have to kill everyone in control range in the first two fights AND there needs to be someone else in charge range. Keeping your Penitent alive during all that will be EXPENSIVE. (Totally worth it if you can pull it off, though!)

I’m struggling to find an optimal team loadout. Rn the exactor rlly doesn’t seem that useful as the only operatives that can reliably take advantage of fight twice or militants and duelist. Rn I’m running a preceptor for severe bubble but she’s more of a support so idk about whipping her. Also you believe relic bolt pistol is better than plasma? I guess if running sanctified rounds we still get piercing. My current team rn is: Superior, 2 purgatus, penitent, exactor, condemnor, reliquarius, pronatus, preceptor, and dialogus. Maybe I swap exactor for medic? Idk any thoughts would be appreciated!

I pretty sure its 20mm token. On kill team app you can see in token tab. I will model My broadcaster on 20mm disc beacuse its way cooler than generic token

​@@CanYouRollaCrit Huh.. I don't read it that way at all. Sanctified Rounds doesn't say, "you can spend 1FP to blah". It reads, "If you spend a FP (a conditional), then blah". I don't see any rule anywhere that says you "can spend" FP except AoF." It's a conditional in the same way Blessed Rejuvenation is. IMO. Also easy to miss: Auto-Chastisers cannot be used when being shot at. Whether that was intentional or not, who knows?

@@kawaiinda6252Blinding Aura used to be a Miracle and cost 2FP. You get 6FP per TP avg so previously you could do Blinding Aura 3x per TP. Now it’s a ploy meaning you can only use it 1 per TP max.

Disagree on Sanctified rounds. In the games ive played you only shoot with an autopistol 10% of the time, and its usually out of desperation. 2/3 damage break points barely improve with one fewer defense die, and grenades and deployables are frequently of higher value.
