It might not be the full first xv ABs, but the babaas only had a few days to train together and learn codes, tactical movements, so it's a great victory.

theric66,so what.The bulk of the team was made up of saffas who had beaten NZ 3-0 that year.Added to which Graham Henry played a trial team - it wasn't even close to the best AB team.This is the same crap poms come out with i.e a scratch team you use with the Lions. It was a stacked team v a trial team.Pyrrhic victory.

@Alfa&Omega 00000 no,its not,.Graham Henry said he would be trialling new players in this game.So what did the poms do,they looked at SA,who beat NZ 3-0 that year,stacked it with their players,a couple of aussies and 2 former AB's.Oh,and Roberts,the Welshman ( I suppose to give the baabaas a northern flavour). The myth the baabaas are just there for a run around was exposed in this game.The team was stacked,just not with northern players,as they were crap at the time.A slight change from the usual,which was to have de facto lions teams masquerading as the baabaas. Well you got the win,but its hollow.

come on the Barbars! No offence meant to the Kiwis, but that was just a fantastic game. Maybe the All Blacks will win the World Cup again some time - I'm sure that will more than make up for the few upsets they've suffered over the years.

I remember when the Barbarians were simply The Lions playing at home with the added bonus of a French star like Blanco or Rives. The inclusion now of non international test players from all around the world has weakened the Baabaas brand . The reality is that if you pick a strong side with a lot of players from the same top tier team like this side you have a good shot because teams like the ABs are looking to play festival rugby.

The issue is obviously that the NH calendar is too stacked so there is little opportunity for top NH international's to play for the Baa Baa's. Slightly different for SH players especially if they are ineligible for international selection because they play outside of their home country. Now and again though they can put together some special squads. Summer 2018 baa baa's comes to mind particular with a nice mix of NH, SH and Fijian players (Lobbe, Vito, tipuric, Russell, radradra, tuisova, Ashton, afoa, timani, Laidlaw, McAllister, fekitoa).

Another stacked baa baas team against the ABs...All about the dollars. This ABs team got hammered by SAF 3- 0 this year . The ABs had some big issues this year. But they reversed the ledger in 2010....The ABS played to another level in 2010...

@rmccaw7 Yeah theres not really many options atm. But i think Roberts and Tuilagi would be a very dangerous partnership anyway. Jon Davies will go on the tour but not sure if hel be in the test side. Hooks probably not going to go back to playing centre now. Maybe even Henson has an outside chance, if he gets fully fit and keeps his head in the right place obv.

we have a good starting 15, we lack in depth but once masaga, toeava, kahui come back in the team after recovering from injury and rokocoko and lauaki gets back in form we should have a pretty good side, our backs are awesome but need to get there set plays and defense right, and our forwards that need to step up there game, other then that we're still the bench mark team taking back number rank in the world :D

What's the likely BaaBaa's team to face the Springboks at the end of the month, I only know the giteau and elsom will be there, and they would be mad not to ask Genia, and maybe 1 or 2 out of cooper, Beale, Pocock, Sharpe, AAC. Maybe a couple of Fijians (Nemani Nadolo would be a good call, he's a new one, playing for Bourgoin I think, and maybe Graham Dewes). I gues there will be a bunch of Kiwis, should try and get a saffa as the uncapped...Jean Deysel?

@Blitzbok Winning isn't everything dude. Start of the year, there was plenty of injuries to key players. It wasn't easy for us without DC, Richie, and having Donald Duck playing first five -_-. Okay put it this way.., Do you really think kicking goals is very exciting? Or do you like tries being scored by great running and attacking. If everyone played the same game as the boks.., Rugby would be dull. Intercepts are also soft.
