On March 23, 2006, the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto premiered The Lord of the Rings stage musical. Although it was the most expensive stage musical of its time, it closed one year later in July 2008, becoming one of the biggest commercial flops in West End history. Despite its flaws, I personally enjoy many of the songs in the show, most especially this heart-warming one by Frodo and Sam, Now and For Always. So, for Tolkien reading day 2023, with its theme of Travel and Adventure, enjoy this little tribute to the hobbits of the Shire through the music of The Lord of the Rings musical, and may it bring joy and light to your day and inspire you in your own adventures and your own friendships!
