It’s like a representation of picking through the corpse of past you, and picking and choosing what you want so you can go into the future. At every stage of life you evolve and from that evolution comes a new you, and with every step a new corpse of your last self to pick attributes from that you want to keep or just can’t bring yourself to get rid of. It’s just my interpretation of how I feel when I watch it. It makes me think about recovering (as much as you can) from depression and just how painful that can be.

Yea, to me it feels like he's looking at past memories [or a past version of himself?] and picking stuff up to go to the future. "Pack light." Like, don't weigh yourself down with trauma or pain? "That one didn't work out so well." Something that must've happened. As much as it hurts, you can't move forward with zero memory. But can't move forward with only pain exactly. I guess fear and excitement could be mirrors. Anticipation, in negative and positive. It does look like a fever-dream, though.

I'm simply baffled by how he makes the sound in these, they're straight out of the more surreal and scary parts of old independent cell animation. I mean, the fact that he was able to make this look like old surreal cell animation is still baffling to me, like the bits where you can see the cell moving as if this was a low budget production back in the 70's or 80's. With the VHS gradient and the dirty colors, hhis just feels so...weirdly nostalgic. But it's the sound and music that amazes me the most.

I think he’s trying to figure out how to feel and act by copying and “stealing” mannerisms and emotions from someone else (probably someone he’s attached to), since he suffers from depression/derealization/some sort of dissociative disorder. It seems to be hurting the other person somehow though, hence the stabbing and blood, not to mention he’s hurting himself by being someone he’s not. my theory: i think jack is telling that if u die u can only bring you're heart (feelings,memories) and books(you're knowledge) so it tells to pack light cause once u die u cannot bring all your belongings in the after life, when he grabs the clock he says '''it really doesn't work that well'' i think jack pointing here is that time is endless in the afterlife but he still bring it because he is still not ready for the afterlife i think he needed more time to spend his ''time'' so the anxious is appearing from his inner but the system tells him that he's excited even though we can see the looks in his face. Jack Stauber is messing with my mind

The fact that this uploaded on New Years Eve makes perfect sense Now is picking up what Then had or at least what Now still wants. And going into the next year Now is anxious for what's to come, but someone tells him "You're Excited". Basically the new year is always a mystery, but on new year's day we always try to be excited for what's to come, but we all know deep down we're more anxious and nervous than excited.

my interpretation is that the corpse is the same guy as the walking one, just that the corpse is what is about to be his past self from this year. when the guy commits organ steal he's seeing what feelings, or maybe even traits, that he should take into the next year. the clock may be symbolizing his internal clock, like he's abandoning harmful habits? (sleep or eating problems, maybe?) either way, it still hurts to make the incision and move on from the past year. and then at the end when he is apparently not anxious, but excited, it might be because he "packed light" and didn't carry as many vices or baggage. mayyybe. (or a mix of anxiety and excitement, though, just labeling it as the latter for a better outlook) could very well be wrong but yknow!

I perceive this to be an interpretation of coping in humans. Many may experience a trauma or significant event that can "break" an individual, often resulting in a disorder or mental illness. This greatly affects their functionality, hence, the "THEN" body laying lifeless. The "NOW" is the coping mechanism. "PACK LIGHT" literally means "lessen your burdens". Relinquish parts of yourself deemed undesirable and keep the necessities. But in doing so, you erase periods of time, the choices made, and the consequences associated with the significant events that influence your perspective on life; and your beliefs define your personality and character - beliefs shaped by experience. This is extrapolated by the questionable void that occupies the missing components in the "NOW" body. Yes, you are functional "now", but how much of your past still exists? Punchline: "NOW" version struggles to cope with the anxiety of self-identity and dismisses it as mere optimistic, excitement.

my theory: since we're into the new year, he feels the need to "reinvent" himself. So he needs to a analyze how he felt in 2019 and try to see the pros and cons of that time. in 2020 he maybe wants to be open about how he feels (???) and take the positive feelings that he'll need from now on
@nadamada83284 жыл бұрын
I agree with your theory. To add on, I think he's scavenging the parts he wants to keep and throws out what he thinks doesn't work (like the clock). Problem is, since he doesn't take everything, even the broken parts, he now feels empty, and in that emptiness is anxiousness. But the thoughts in his head (the reverse text he reads) convinces him he's excited, not anxious. I belive this whole thing shows how leaving parts of yourself behind can lead to sadness, and pain.

This is what I got out of this: Taking from the past only what you need and leaving what didn't work properly (growth). Growth is painful but it doesn't have to be a nightmare. The old you is dead, take what worked and leave what killed you. Learn from mistakes. Anxiety and excitement produce the same chemicals but it's all in how we perceive it... and if we can regulate our emotions properly... we may not have learned how in childhood but each moment brings opportunity for change/growth. Anxiety usually is triggered when something threatens what/who we love and care about / threatens our vulnerabilities... something close to the heart. Anxiety for the future or excitement for the future? What will be placed in the empty places in your being is up to you... fill it with good things since life is short.
@aecusregen46144 жыл бұрын
Then is the past and he's packing light because you can't hold on to everything, that "anxiety" or excitement was in the place that he left empty, which represents the future, he's going to put something new there; he just doesn't know what yet. Really phenomenal.
