As soon as they show green cut it off and plant it. You don't need let them keep growing to leaves.... Also, it's a swamp plant so it likes to be constantly wet. You can grow it in a pond or even aquaponiclly. It does propagate like crazy so a controlled container is good.

This is all very well if you're in vietnam with tropical temperatures of maybe 22-25c at night and maybe 30-35c during daylight, try growing this in uk or europe which typically has 0-10c at night(below 20c indoors), not so easy then, so don't get your hopes up high! So you see everyone cannot ALREADY grow taro at home!
