Same here. So much popularity was surrounding the game so I figured I'd check it out on KZbin. At first, I thought it was just going to be a regular dumb dating simulator (and it seemed like that in the 1st hour or 2 of the game) but then it took an extremely dark turn than I thought it would and I was in shock for 3 days, and I still am! Here's a fun fact, Pewds. Every girl has a specific instrument when you're talking to them. Sayori has a guitar, Yuri has a flute and Natsuki has a xylophone. Monika gets the classical piano, which is ever present in the soundtrack. Everytime you here a piano in the background, Monika's watching. EDIT: Forgot what Sayori's instrument really was hehe.

It isn't an instrument as much as it's a genre of music. Natsuki's is childish and playful. Yuri's in sophisticated and grown up. Monika's is a pleasant mixture of both, while Sayori's is a less pleasant mixture.

Doki Doki definitely has a lot of deep meanings and secrets, but that just seems like a stretch... it's too obscure, and doesn't really make sense or bring on any type of raw feelings like fear or shock. For anyone that didn’t know, Yuri’s poem about feeding the raccoon was a metaphor for her self harm. Knowing full well that feeding the raccoon would make it want to come back, etc. She talks about the rush of blood, and how easily she slices the bread. It’s pretty freaky what team Salvato achieved, and a phycological horror like this is hard to pull off, I’m sure. I wish so much that I had played it for myself, but it’s interesting seeing the reactions from youtubers like that.

At 55:19 when Monika says "Sometimes it feels like you and I are the only real people here.", she's either breaking the fourth wall with irony, or she is showing that she is self aware. It's ironic because you are a real person, but the character you play as is not, which makes me think... what if she isn't talking to your character, but rather, she's talking to YOU? It's also ironic because she knows that she is a video game character (according to her first poem, her deleting sayori and editing the code, and also that you can still talk to her when the game is 'glitching'), so her saying that she feels like you and her are the only real people is strange.

Since it's been a couple weeks I think it's okay to talk about this.. In the beginning if you go with natsuki and bake cupcakes with her she mentions she can't eat the cupcakes because her dad is making dinner. The player says something like one won't hurt or around those lines and she said I don't want to spoil my appetite. When my dad cooks dinner I have to eat a lot. Freaked me out because it's implying she doesn't eat dinner everyday and when he does allow her to eat he probably forces her to eat all of it.
