You’re right, I just purchased a 2021 Chevy Bolt with7800 miles, that originally sold for $39,000 for $14,000 including the $4000 tax credit. It’s amazing!🎉

I actually just bought a 2023 mach-e GT for just under 40k with less than 13k on the clock. It was an excellent deal! I was looking at a new one (select AWD/extended) and would have been almost 10k more than I got the GT for! with the low maintenance and longevity (so far) of EV's it was a no-brainer!

Great info. I think the 1 year old route, especially from like Hertz makes perfect sense. I don't think I would consider a used EV from an individual. That sounds like a lemon in waiting. FPL here in Florida is running an offer for EV flat rate, off peak charging, including equipment for $31/mo. Sounds pretty enticing.

Mostly spot on. Though, i moved 10 months ago, from a house where i had a level 2 charger. In the new home, i haven't had the chance to install it due to other projects (roof, HVAC, gutters, barn, etc.) I've been charging off of 120/20 amp for 10 months now, 50 miles round trip to work. So far, it's been working fine. "Next battery" data (change in architecture) is said that the battery may last as much as 3 million miles. We'll see. BYD already has battery warranty for 1 million kilometers. Just purchased my second EV Tesla Y "inventory"/ new. With discounts/rebates, under $35k.

Purchased (2) make that (3) used EVs this year. The first, 2021 Polestar 2, was a hell of a deal that sat on a dealers lot for over 300 days. Got them to reduce even further and made use of the instant tax credit. Followed that up with the 2021 Ford Mach E. Not as good as a deal but for around $30K, not bad. Then last week I jumped on a 2022 Polestar 2 (lemon lawed) for another great price and nearly got out of the 2021 that I put into it. If you're willing to look for a deal, they are to be had. Now only if that Polestar Place would open in Chicago... :)

I paid $60,000 cash for my 2022 Tesla Model Y in July of 2022. No tax incentives. It has 90,000 miles on it now. I’ll be able to sell it for perhaps $25,000 when I’m ready to sell it. I have no regrets. It’s been an awesome vehicle.

lol i have a 13 year old phev with 130k miles on the odom. it gets 150% of the EPA range and i put 40k miles on it over the last 18 months which paid for the car in fuel savings. zero compromises, no range anxiety, no range degradation, only ~5% range loss in freezing weather most likely due to tire pressure and air density, insurance is 21$/mo lol. I paid 6000$, i guess its gone up in value unlike every other electric car over the past 3 years

I definitely wanted to go for a used EV , but I got a ridiculous deal on a blazer EV on lease . I can check out after the lease is over , and let the technology get better over time on their dime . I have a 2017 volt right now , and 24 blazer EV . I wanna take this lease time and then go used after .

The statement of “these batteries will last the life of the car” means that when the battery dies, it is not economical to repair the vehicle. Twenty or forty year old cars with diesel and petrol engines are fine with regular servicing. After some servicing, with new oil, filters, some seals and perishables replaced, barn finds work fine after decades of no use. EVs don’t. The chemical nature of the batteries will always put a limit and a sudden end to their use.

There’s never a good time to buy an EV, whether they are new or used. Depreciation hits differently when the lifespan of the vehicle is strictly limited by the risk attached to battery degradation and failure. These ‘studies’ on EVs seem to use the assumption that the same past curve of degradation will apply for the foreseeable future, ignoring the sudden nature of cell fault developing and the age, regularity and charge percentage affecting the battery health. Once they start ageing and usage changes, they’ve had it.

I don’t see how a Toyota and Honda 35K ICE car is comparable to a performance mach e or Volvo c40. Luxury and performance is always going to have a steeper depreciation than Toyota or Honda mainstream ice suv. Also 35K cars are very much in the demand with new costs easily above 42K with some options.

Always remember to check the fine print, if you don't do all the regular servicing's though the dealers or approved garages, then the warranty is voided....this info doesn't come from me but from a video i watched where a guy had his big battery warranty voided because he had changed the 12v battery himself.

Hmmm well this is going to be my first winter with EVs. So far so good, but we'll see. I live where I have to drive a minimum of about 60 miles R/T for just about anything. And I regularly visit my parents who live 200 miles R/T and so far it hasn't been a problem. But I'm going to be very transparent about my experiences with EVs so if something sucks, I'm going to talk about it. Lol 😆

@@ReeWrayEVerydayYou're not going to have any issues. Just make sure you precondition the battery on cold days. New chargers are being installed every single day. And with Tesla opening up their network, there's no place in America that you can't go. As far as used EV's, it will give so many people a chance to get an EV for the first time ever. And once you try an EV, there's no going back.

777 not sure where your getting your info from, but it is incorrect. If it is brutally cold and snowing, expect a 15% hit on your battery range, precondition car before leaving while plugged in (time can be set in menu). If I ever got stuck in snow storm, I would rather be in an EV. Camping mode in Tesla over 10 hours used about 11% of my battery with 27 degrees outside. I've had an EV for 2+ years, and will go back to a flip phone, before I go back to an ICE car.
