I just loved it that they talked more about second coming than the first coming! And that he said we have to prepare NOW, one of them also said “every day we are one day closer to His coming” I was so full of joy ❤

In President Nelson’s talk from the October 2024 General Conference he quotes from the Handel’s Messiah (TWICE): “the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.” At this Christmas Devotional, the tabernacle choir sang “And the Glory of the Lord,” from Handel’s Messiah.

What came to mind as I watched was a connection of this First Presidency and Methuselah, that the Flood came at the end of Methuselah’s life and his name having reference to “judgment” and how he was the oldest patriarch. Made me think of our eldest prophet, and his first counselor who was a judge. Also how his family cried repentance for so long, his descendants were preserved with the covenant to a new beginning, much like we look forward to. There is more there.

I appreciate that the First Presidency has this devotional each year, and the emphasis on the return of Jesus Christ helps show that we are getting near to His Second Coming! Thanks for covering this!

The prelude music was amazing! All of it was really good. But for anyone who missed the prelude - it is worth watching and listening to again. Even the order in which they sang the songs, I think has great meaning.

I had the blessing to attend in person both last year and this year. My nieces were able to come this year, and the youngest one who is preparing for baptism quietly sang all the words to the first two verses of Silent Night with the choir as we awaited the third verse. This year, every cough, sniffle, and crinkle was magnified because of the sheer silence of the congregation. It felt as if Jesus himself were there in the conference center, quietly observing. I also had a sense of deja vu during a few moments, as if a dream I had a couple of weeks prior had come to pass. The mystery is that I only officially knew I was going to be there a couple hours before, because one of my family members had an extra ticket available. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I love the reminder to apply what we learn and discuss about the Lord and his gospel. Thank you! I love learning about deeper doctrine and getting excited about Our Lord Gods return! ❤️ BUT the real meat and potatoes that fills my soul is the Book of Mormon and all the scriptures containing the words of the Lord and Gospel principles ❤️ Let’s strive together to nourish our mind body and soul! ❤️ Go to the temple and pray always and dream dreams and see visions and share the good news with everyone you know! ❤️

When elder cook brought up preparing the second coming, I immediately thought of you 😂 that aside definitely gave me alarm bells. It’s telling that President Nelson’s last talk was quoted a handful of times at the devotional. My watching wise, I was really blessed to be able to attend the devotional in person for the first time for me! (Even as I’ve grown up in Utah!)

Speakers were great and interesting. The music….for me it didn’t feel like Christmas music until the last 2 songs. When Away in a Manger was sung, the memory of Christmases with my family and a great aunt playing the piano and my grandfather playing his accordion flooded my mind and heart with all of the traditional Christmas music we sang together. Enjoyed the messages of the talks!

Is it just my imagination, or has every single talk by the General Authorities, recently, included a mention of the Second Coming. When I was younger we seldom ever heard it mentioned. I mean all of them, not just a few here and there.

Alma 34: 31, 32, 33"...31 therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you. 32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors... 33 if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed."

For example have you been following what is going on in Israel and even in Gaza and parts of the Middle East with the One for Israel ministry? Jews who have found Jesus are sharing him with other Jews, and even some Arabs are reaching out hungry to learn even though it can be dangerous. Also the proselyting going on by the Jews for Jesus organization. They are on spiritual fire with their love for the Messiah now they have found Him. All signs of the times. But so few, if any, Latter-day Saints (except myself) seem to be aware of this growing movement, even though IT’S HAPPENING!
@CatchTheBuzz110 күн бұрын
@amandascheuermann6981 I am aware of One for Israel as well! Also Native Americans because I am part Native American. Our church recorded some of their oral histories and or genealogy during covid times. I hope you will check out my channel that Jared has recommended. I did a Livestream on Sunday morning with my friend Br. Gabriel Mirah channel in Kenya! He's a Bishop and will live a few minutes walk from the Kenya Nairobi temple! We shared some Second Coming signs from the temple. It was so much fun. If you watch it please leave us a message on there. We talked about other miracles during 2020

Jared what did you think of Oaks bringing up the Utah community and saying they don’t let their kids play with non members kids. That has to still be a huge problem if he has to bring that up to a huge crowd
@Crissnikk10 күн бұрын
Yep, we had stake conference and Elder Erich W. Kopischke came, he’s german and as you know Germany has tremendous immigrants issues. He was talking about all the immigrants there and he said that God permites this so these people can move to places where they can receive the gospel, in this case people from Middle East and places where there are no missionaries, he said that in Germany the majority of baptisms are these immigrants. I thought it was interesting I never thought it that way. I’m an immigrant here and I see the issues now and we don’t want the delinquents ones but not all of them are. I just never though it that way for people that come from countries without the gospel. So probably those problems are not just in Utah but all those countries that are having issues with immigrants now (which there are a bunch also in South America)

I always let my kids play with non member kids in our previous neighborhood. My daughter LOVED the little girls next door. But somehow, SHE became the excluded one. She has ADHD, and a learning issue, and although the neighbor’s mom actually worked with special needs kids as her profession, she saw only intentional bad behavior in our daughter (things that never would have offended me if it had been her daughter doing them) and kicked my daughter out of their lives. Meaning, permanent “time out” from her coming to play. And their house was feet away from ours, both houses with plenty of backyard space where lots of kids played. I’ll never forget the gutted look on my 8 year old’s face, when her friend told her that they could never play with her again, and that her mom didn’t like her. “My mom hates you.” So, plenty of mean behavior going both ways. I thought I was making the right choice to create no unnatural boundaries between my kids and other children. But like I said, even if “the world’s” children are innocent, fun and forgiving…good luck with the parents. I’ll not ever forget the look on her face…after so many years of what she believed was best friendship. She mourned that relationship for years.
