Caitlin Clark received a reality check when she entered the WNBA. But it wasn't the reality check talking heads predicted it would be. It was much worse. It may be time for the young star to do some soul searching.

Me too. She needs to start wearing goggles when playing, for starters. And she should never walk around in public by herself. I'm not sure if she realizes what a dangerous situation she is up against. It is not just the players, there is a whole Woke culture out there that hates her. They are everywhere. She needs to be very careful everywhere she goes.There are people out there that would do her physical harm.

Women's sports are going through issues today that I never could have imagined as a young high school and college athlete. It makes me sad that girls, for various unfair reasons, need to seriously consider walking away from their beloved sports, for their own good- and, in many cases, for the good of women's sports.

She Has Given Me Renewed FAITH in the Younger Generation. I so wish someone would make a Highlight Reel of CC as a "IN YOUR FACE ANSWER" to the WMBA with the Old Roger Miller Positive Attitude Song..."You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Heard But You Can Be HAPPY, If Youve A Mind To"...I know Most of You Probably NEVER heard of that song but give it a listen...That's, in my opinion, EXACTLY, what CC Has Done... Without the WNBA Caitlin will never get true basketball validation: 1. she was never even an NCAA champion (Sheryl Swoopes, Candance Parker, Taurasi, Breanna stewart, Aja Wilson... all won national titles. So CC needs to win in the WNBA to be considered much more than a great white hype. Swoopes, Stewart, Maya Moore, Candace Parker, Taurasi - all won WNBA titles... Clark is already behind their legacy by not winning an NCAA Title. Not even 1. She can't go her whole career without a WNBA title.... not when Maya Moore, Stewie etc have multiple. 2. To be a real elite in basketball she needs WNBA success... If she did something silly like leave the WNBA and go work for ice Cube or whatever, she ll be even more of a laughing stock than she already is right now (getting dumped out of the playoffs in just 2 games). Getting eliminated in Rd 1 is not "dominating pro basketball" ... no matter how much delusional clark fans want tot claim it to be Clark would never do something so stupid - I give her that much credit... But when Paige and Juju and others get to the WNBA,,, it''ll be obvious that Clark wasn't THE dominant phenom so many white people hoped she'd be ... Instead - she is still great/ very good - she's PART of a movement of generational players ... but just one of many .... not "one of one" NOt when Sabrina Ionescu just scored more points than Clark has ever scored in a WNBA game (Sabrina had 36, on 5-11 three pt shooting.. Meanwhile Clark was 6-24 from 3 in two games. LOOOOOL Keep hitting the weight rooom, don't listen to these idiot fans who claim to be yourr or about CC , practice basbetkall (defense, movement, shooting, team dynamics, pick n rolll etc.... I am mystified by the media's portrayal of Clark as "flashy" and "Magnetic." I grew up in Iowa. I don't know if she did, but to me she reads as a well-adjusted, brilliant version of a working class Iowa girl. Soft-spoken. Almost never complains. Knows better than to play the victim, even in the face of bullying. Magnanimous to her teammates. All about getting the job done. She has my same hairdo, which can be fixed up in ten seconds. Sensible, pragmatic, to the point. When it's time to work, she works hard. Of course, that's hard not to like. But not because she's seeking attention. The only thing flashy about Caitlin is the quality and genius of her play. Even at that high level, though, it is pretty plain. No showboating. Just spectacularly effective. I hope she can keep her joy and also her dreams.

Certain players, Coaches, 1 Legend need to take responsibility since THEY started all this from the beginning and no one did a thing about it. I’m appalled and insulted at that ridiculous comment after the exit of the Fever in the playoffs. I wanted to hear basketball talk, we’re watching basketball!! This was so improper! I’m a new fan and I can’t stand the low class behavior. I’m embarrassed as a woman. All of a sudden these woman have more eyes on them in the history of the WNBA and they are to blame for the impressions they put out to the world. Caitlin Clark didn’t do this to you, you did it to yourselves. Concentrate on your basketball and get off social media if you can’t handle it. Social media is YOUR choice, don’t blame Caitlin and fans for the choices you make. There are many players that I’ve enjoyed watching and getting to know, I just wanted to see good basketball and the majority of the league robbed me of that! Another improper element this year, Angel Reese should have used common since, do what most women would have done, report all this to authorities, not social media. Authorities could have tracked all this down and you wouldn’t have to be a “victim”

Agree with you Ms. Ross. CC is on an island wanting to play basketball all the while a toxic private club that controls the WNBA did everything, they could prevent her. They will continue to go after her. The Club controls the WNBA, the players union, the refs, and influences certain media outlets. You do not hear any franchise coming to CC's defense including the Fever. Sides and Dunne are pitiful. Although it got better during the second half of the season her own teammates did not come to her defense. As much as I hate to say it, I do believe she would be better off playing in another league.

I'm a new fan of Caitlin Clark, and never watched women's basketball before, and very, very little mens basketball. I agree with so much you have said. I believe that the W is a reflection of our society and politics. I, like so many millions of other Americans, get up every day, go to work, try to raise our families, try to be good members of our community, and end up being called racists. And now, just trying to enjoy watching the most exciting athlete in a generation, to again be labeled as racist is insane. There's always going to be trolls, and not much can be done other than say the obvious, "its unacceptable". But how much intense abuse has Caitlin received, without complaints, the opposing" fans", opposing players, referees, commentators, former players (that she repeatedly represents as role models), etc. The W is basically a sewer. But Caitlin is better than they are. And i believe she, and good decent players, teammates, and opposition, and millions of Caitlin fans, in the end, will make the difference. I believe it is the best evidence that America is not really as racist as the media would want us to believe. Then Americans both black and white have long accepted one another as fellow human beings created equally in the eyes of God. I believe the only reason we have a so-called race problem in America is that there are those who stand to gain by stirring up the pot and injecting hate into our otherwise decent country. I really appreciate you and the many other KZbinrs of color who have shown much more wisdom than those in the mainstream media. Caitlyn is not leaving the W. You need to understand the mind of someone who’s been bullied and has overcome it. The bullying in the W is not her first experience with it. I was bullied in school and it was not fun and I hated school. There was even a time I became a bully to try to overcome it but I didn’t like it so I turned it around by digging deep into what I could do (which was academics) and sticking it to the bullies even if they didn’t care. Long story short I graduated at the top of my class and went on to college to do very well. My faith in God plus my tenacity to overcome everything the bullies said I was ( a nobody) drove me day after day and I never quit. That’s Caitlyn. Her thinking is persistent and she is going to do what she does best despite what any one says about her. When she said they awoke a monster I knew exactly what she was saying. From her years with playing against boys and all that rough play through the present she’s been molded to withstand all of it. She is not quitting, that’s for sure.

Caitlin is doing herself a major disserve by always being so diplomatic. She has experienced a lot of racism in the league but chooses to stay silent. By not talking about it, she empowers those racist players and fans to continue doing what they're doing because there will not be any consequences to their actions. She had a perfect opportunity to mention the Sun's fan who was pulled aside by security for the things he was yelling at her. She could have drawn a correlation that she knows that Suns players have no control over what that fan said just like she doesn't have any control of what a random fan says. She needs to stand up for herself since no one else in that league is going to. If someone pokes you in the eyes, find an opportunity to "accidentally" poke that player in the eye. If she keeps rolling over, her bullies are going to make her life miserable.

CC will stay and she will play and the hate won’t go away…..SOOO…. Fever management needs to get some protection/enforcers to punch back HARD when CC gets attacked. And they need to do it in a way where the league knows the Fever organization is 100% going to protect CC so you better not mess with her! Bullies are cowards! That’s how you have to deal with them! Sides is a mouse! They need a Coach who will stand up and FIGHT for CC!! If the Fever does not structure their team with some TOUGH ENFORCERS and thereby set a mindset to the league that they will not tolerate abuse to their STAR player then nothing will change and CC’s career will be shortened. CC is not leaving the WNBA anytime soon. Not with the mess going on around the globe. CC also wants to play in front of her family and friends. Also, all this drama will unite the team like a knot that can’t be untied. The fans will rally for CC and the Fever by the thousands because of the drama! All I’m saying is that if CC wants to play in the TOXIC WNBA, a showdown has to happen! The sooner the message is sent the better it will be for CC and the WNBA!!! It’s sad it has to come to this. But sometimes you have to protect your interest for the good of everyone no matter what it takes to get it done! These little girls need to grow up! A good whipp’n after they attack CC and you won’t see them patting themselves on the back and making smirking smiles to one another cause they’ll be licking their own wounds!! CC is being attacked because the Fever team is SOFT!! The FEVER must FIGHT for their rights to be on that court to play with the freedom CC and everyone else deserves without the fright of being butchered in a so called COWARDOUS BB play! The WNBA has been allowed to become toxic with inequity! Maybe GOD has raised CC up for such a time as this. The first chapter has been recorded. Everyone knows the WNBA is toxic from top to bottom. Everyone has been exposed! The fans see it and stand united behind CC. Now is the time for the FEVER organization to organize to fight! If they do, Chapter 2 will be played a whole lot different!!!
@mikelloyd2013
@mikelloyd2013 Күн бұрын
I disagree. The reason I like the fever is because the whole team is likable. Whenever they step on the court, they are the underdogs because they don’t play dirty. And everyone loves to see an underdog win! You can’t fix a toxic environment by adding toxicity to your team. If they hire a thug to be their enforcer, they will lose fans. I have been critical of coach Sides at times, but her team conducts in a professional manner on the court and off. I have to believe coach Sides has been responsible for that at least to some degree. Her team has been popular not just for the talent, but because they are not toxic. You probably are correct that they would win more games if they had an enforcer on their team, but then they become like every other team in the league and who wants to see that?
@davidcobler5705
@davidcobler5705 Күн бұрын
@@mikelloyd2013Very respectfully, I think you got someone else’s post mixed up with some of mine. I stated nothing about the Fever getting more wins if they had an enforcer. Also, there is a huge difference in bringing in a thug over an enforcer. The enforcer will never instigate brutal blows toward an opponent. The enforcer is like a bodyguard to deter brutal blows from an opponent toward the STAR player on the team as well as their teammates. The brutes in the WNBA knew they would not be called out by the Referee’s because they are sold out to the haters!! They know they will not be checked by the Fever players or their Coach because they are “all nice”. Bullies are all alike. Once someone stands up to them and puts them down, only then will they leave you alone. Coach Sides rarely took technical fouls in defense of her players! That’s just wrong! The Fever need a coach that stands up for their players every time they see blatant wrong doing to their player(s). Thugs being unchecked or undeterred in their pre-meditated act to do harm in the guise of a BB play will continue with their blows upon the innocent! It only takes one of those blows to seriously injure a player! Remember, the purpose of a thug is to injure the one they hate! Someone has to defend the innocent or else it will be the innocent that really get hurt!! The Fever need to hire a new deputy on the court and the WNBA needs to hire a new Sheriff that will enforce the law! Until that happens the towns of the WNBA will be ran by rebels and thugs!! I think that’s just plain common sense. Like I said, sometimes you have to fight for your right so you are free to play in a way that shows off your talent without the fear of being brutalized by a thug!

Not only should CC leave the WNBA she should sue the hell out of them. They allowed assault and battery against her during several games. They didn’t do anything to stop it. They are culpable.

I'm here in the Philippines, where African-American Justin Brownlee is a naturalized citizen and a star on one of the best basketball teams in the country. The irony is that Brownlee gets treated better here in the Philippines than Caitlin does in her own country.

You're right. Justin Brownlee is the Michael Jordan of the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association). I wish CC (and her Fever teammates if available) would come to the PH and have an exhibition game or 4-point shootouts with our players. 🇵🇭

I think her dreams as a kid and her looking up to those in the WNBA at the time has become a major reality check of what it really is and honestly what it has always been. She should talk to her idol Mia Moore on why she retired early. In my opinion they ran her off like Candace Wiggins and almost did with Skylar Diggins-Smith. The league is toxic and full of activists. I hope she moves onto bigger and better things, but I think she believes it will change. Like I said before, she could start her own league or move elsewhere, and millions would follow her. I guess we'll see. The WNBA needs an overhaul. Can CC bring the overhaul? Her coming into the league certainly exposed what it is though. Great broadcast Adrienne!

I have mixed thoughts on this subject bcuz on one hand it's toxic and no one wants to be in a toxic environment. Then on the other hand, she said she does well at blocking it and maybe just maybe she is the one to bring change. She's also said that basketball is just basketball and it isn't the most important thing to her. She is well balanced and level headed for her age. Hopefully the off season will be a huge hwlp for her to rest and determine if this is the "fight" she really wants to take on for X amount of years.

Maybe the NBA needs to tell the WNBA that if they don't clean up their league they will pull their funds. Maybe that would help the WNBA leadership to grow a backbone to put an end to the constant drama.

The WNBA’s reaction to the assault on Caitly Clark means that I have no interest in watching any games. I MIGHT watch a game or two next year of CC is playing, but frankly, watching the kind of sewerage they were dishing up this year with cheating Referees, criminal assaults, etc, if that is repeated next time around, then I’ll stck with watching the ocassional highlight video of CC, but there’s NO WAY, I will be paying for any access to WNBA games. NOT EVER! The WNBA will not get a single dime from me. E V E R !

You said EXACTLY what I was thinking. I was so disappointed when she actually went in the draft after all the hatred she heard from the WNBA even BEFORE THE DRAFT! The best thing she could do for the WNBA is LEAVE! This would put the NBA in a precarious position of seeing a cap put on the WNBA, meaning that the NBA would have to continue to be the sugar daddy of the WNBA for many more years, something they don't want to do! But if they don't put someone in charge of the WNBA who would clean house, people like Clark and Bueckers are much better off playing in Europe. Even though I followed Caitlin into the WNBA, I made sure to never give the WNBA a penny of my money. I limited myself to watching the 8 minutes or so of Fever highlights on KZbin and that's it. I would never buy any of her merchandise, and certainly not any Nike sneaker from her, because that would help the league or Nike, a horribly woke company.
