Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today we become a Vampire Lord on Project Ascension Season 8! We're going to be using Unholy Prayers, Shadowbolts, Vampiric Bonds and Beacons of Shadow to heal our targets with dark energy and shadow magic, and simultaneously damaging our enemies!
In this video we take Vampire Lord from 1-60 and then test out the new spec in some Mythic and Raiding content. We also find out Grove Ranger from the last video was recently buffed, settle a bit of a PvP grudge that just had to be dealt with, and we even somehow manage to meme it up with a Drain Soul spec in the video as well just to cover all of the bases!

To get vampire lord, grunt just sat at and camped a single blood respawn for one and a half hour! It was northwest of the crown guard tower, in eastern plaguelands. Grunt also been misdirecting anyone who asked about enchants. Grunt sent somebody to desolace and wetlands for vampire lord. Grunt happy now.

It's really cool that they buffed Grove Ranger and that Vamp Lord pumps out so much healing. "Deal damage to heal" archetypes have always been my favorite kinds of healers (at least when they're tuned properly and don't feel like ass to play), so to see that sort of playstyle getting love on Ascension is cool to see. - Gharik

Holy paladin talent: light's grace reduces the cast time of holy light & prayer of healing spells by 0.5sec, which helps a lot for quicker heal output. 19:13 those extra mobs wouldn't be a problem if you didn't stand out in Narnia so the knockback would punt you into them. :3

I like to play this with seed of corruption and the enchant that leaves corruption on the target after seed pops. I also use the enchant that causes shadowburn to leave corruption on the target after casting 5 spells with cast times. I had shadowflame on one version and it was really good with nightfall and seed of corruption spam. Was topping meters if mobs stayed alive (if there were not any dragon wars in the party) Implementing drain soul into the shadowbolt area of the enchant would be very good as well. “Shadowbolt and Drain Soul causes extra healing to Beacon” Really want some extra heals included in this LRE as well. Holy Shock “unholy shock” would work good to help the lack of spot heals especially if there was a way to stack the ability for it to crit. Something like “Shadowbolt crits give your Unholy Shock an additional 50% chance to crit stacking twice” or just allow Unholy Light to be casted on Allies as well as enemies.

I try it some seasons back I remember one enchant that makes your bleeds heal you (more sense) and I like it, with enough bleeds and increase damage of bleeds can make a very good balanced character altleast before you figth agains one crazy crits guy

I am in the process of making my own 'vampire lord' build. I'm going to be using Dark Apotheosis, Hellscream and Twilight. I don't have nearly as many REs so I was just going to get the Intimidating Shout & Vampiric Touch and work my way from there. i love these new worldforged enchants, they make the game feel like AQWorlds (a very old browser game) the game had an insane amount of classes and there were tons of ways to unlock them ranging from events to secrets and quests this feels very similiar even tho you're only unlocking an enchant but lets be honest, these legendary enchants feel like a new class

I came at this exactly the same as you hoping for a drain soul healer but as you say its very messy without a targeted heal when most of your "healing" (damage) spells take forever to cast and aren't guaranteed to hit if the target dies etc but is fun and really want it to work - hideaki

Having played melee CoJ back on Al'ar TBC it seems like I'm noticing a theme with all the hybrid healers where they just don't have the HPS to cope with burst in situations like M+. With CoJ I'd have everyone at full health, take a global to crusader strike and then halfway through that GCD someone takes a big hit, i go to cast a greater heal and then they're dead by the end of the cast and then the tank is getting chunked in the meantime. I honestly feel that spec needs a rework where melee hits not only heal adorned targets but put up some kind of stack like grove ranger does with healing touch, where maybe you can get off a holy healing spell on an instant cast. Hell, take another que from grove ranger where having Str gear while in spirit stat gives more AP and healing power. -Yrathel

I think you will enjoy cryo more. It's funny how similar they are. They are both actually pretty similar to retail Mistweaver Monks. That panic you felt when things get out of control seems to be common for DPS healing.

I think this is a raid class and grove ranger (after buffs) is probably a mythic plus healer. It's all about moving and healing quick, this is for long boss duration

What about getting seed of corruption for M+? i feel like that would heal like crazy. Also seems like a huge waste to use corruption or Agony on mobs that die that fast... I'm not an ascension player but rule of thumb is usually that dots are only worth putting up if you get the full duration (In wrath idk about other Xpacks)

Hey! If I can provide some input. The healing from vampire lord is only from "Single Target Shadow Spells" So spells like Seed of Corruption only procc the heal from 1 target. Also I think your correct, When I play this spec in dungeons where things die fast I generally try to just spam the Unholy Light instead of putting dots out.

Wouldn't mind seeing a video where you try stuff that got "fixed" ala Grove Ranger you initially disliked ended up being viable/good/fun. For me, I enjoy Dark Ranger. I normally play a melee, so it's way out of my comfort zone but it's just tied together so well, I can't help but play it. Now just to get my agi/int hunter gear... Oh, and your feedback about mobs that die too fast to get your stuff rolling- this was similar to my experience with Dark Ranger. I can tell it's got good DPS. I know it's got good DPS. But when I jumped into normal to get used to my keybinds, everything dies so fast, my DPS is around half of where I expect it to be. I jumped into heroic after and oh, there's the rest of my damage.

how does soul harvest work? does it increase time per instance of listed dots or does it only increase the time if all of those dots are on the target?

Hey BlackBlade, Soul harvest counts each individual target that has one of the dots on it. If you have 1 target with 3 dots it will only give an increase of 3 seconds, but if you have 5 targets with 1 dot each it will give you an increase of 15 seconds.

i suggest swapping CoA for SW Pain: more healing cos vampiric embrace heals from Priest dmg. + i wouldnt use Shadowform because you dont have any form of direct heal on others than your Beacon, so you need some kind of Heal (which you can´t use in Shadowform anyway)
