once you do it right, you can trigger them easily to go to sleep on command, i've seen it done on america's got talent when that one hypnotist go Howie to shake hands, and he's a notorious germaphobe, you've seen him on youtube, he's very effective, but they didn't show how he did it, be it did make one of the guys next to me fall asleep on command while i was in the audience, it almost freaked me out how potent this guy was.

i always had this idea that hypnosis works like you overload someone's brain with stimulus ie. touch, bombard them with words/info to make their brain "shut off". While the guy is "passed out" like he's on a lucid dream type of state, the only thing he can hear is you "narrating" and you now start giving commands, ideas, images in his head and etc. The things could "wake" him up maybe like high pitched sounds ie. clap or snap.

My personal headcanon is that he was hired by someone (possibly Janet) specifically to end the affair. I know that his whole thing is that he can pick up on details from barely noticeable body language but he seems to already know something’s up before he talks to the husband. He’s already got the wife stuck in place, he brings the husband to the side, he makes the “oldest business” joke way before he could’ve learned it was an affair. If he wasn’t hired by someone for this job, he at the very least knew what was going on and went into this with the goal of blackmailing the husband over the affair

I saw a video of a man-woman magic pair, and the woman was assigned with guessing a word that an audience member had in his head. His word was "jackhammer" (maybe with "ing"), and she was guessing things like "smash." So, she couldn't actually pinpoint the word, but it was clear she was extracting some kind of information.

he watches the facial expression of the dude. When his eyebrows slightly lower, Woody realizes the name starts with J so he starts rattling off J names, looking for a slip up again. It could potentially take forever but the chances of them having a basic name are very high so it's not hard to believe that he would figure out Janet so fast.
