Definitely not a fail in getting in a rubber dinghy to Rottnest . We live here in Perth and always had 20/21ft boats which we took to Rotto and the afternoon return was often a hairy run . Rotto was always our April school holidays destination for a week in a Longreach or Geordie Bays villa. Quokka don’t live on the mainland except a small colony in the south west . You need to get yourself a cray loop and a bag for the crays …….makes catching so much easier .

Nice video. Just an FYI that we dont the call the stretch of water between Perth and Rottnest "the bay" we call it the Indian Ocean and yes its always wind - haha

Fantastic footage you guys, actually I followed the same route in 2018 escaping the NZ winter . It is wonderful to see it all again including a few spots that I missed. Keep up the great videos and marvellous narration.

Still making our way through your videos and loving them! That little island where you took ‘big red’ is actually where they take you to swim with the seals. We had one of the best experiences of our trip right there!

So cool! We had no idea, it felt very sharky there so we werent very comfortable in the water haha

Quokkas are more like a nocturnal animal, that's why they look sleepy on Rotto during the day (bloody tourists keep them awake). On the mainland you hardly see them except at dawn and dusk. Saw some crays, either too small or too fast and escaped?
@our.australia.trip.7 ай бұрын
Yeah haha one was too fast and the other 3 went too deep in the cave once i set the gopro up 🤣

Brilliant video as always guys! A mate and i took my 4m tinny across to Rotto once...never again 😂 definitely needed a bigger, more stable boat

Yep when the wind gets up it’s pretty ordinary, I would only attempt it on a complete glass off day. Anyhow, the bikes I reckon were a better way to see the island 🙌🏼

Enjoy Kalbarri. 3 night stay to see it properly. 4wd track just north of town to follow the river and kick back a day. Cliffs on the beach, cliffs inland. Also when you hit Exmouth and Ningaloo, check out the ranges , only 20 ks south and 10ks inland of town. Stop at every car spot for photos .

Thank God you took the ferry. I don't think the Rotto crossing in the inflatable would have been a good idea.
@our.australia.trip.7 ай бұрын
Yep, if we misjudged the conditions it would've been bad. The 4m inflatable is really quite impressive how well it handles the chop though, i would say better than a tinny of the same size.

Great vid guys! Pros and cons for the truekit boat? Looking at getting one but not too sure just yet
@our.australia.trip.7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Its perfect for diving and very stable and capable on the water. Cons would be using it in croc country and fishing hooks could ruin your day if your into catching big fish.
