It's where I grew up! 😅 The rock you saw thats "smooth" is shaped like a wedding cake, hence the name. The reason the area has been fenced off is for 2 reasons. You can see the massive split in the rock? Underneath, there's nothing holding it in place just like the previous rocks you thought were "solid ground" haha The 2nd, its such a national tourist attraction, people come from all over the world (or used to) and they used to sit/stand on the edge. Some fell to their death or seriously injured. You may or may not have seen the abseiling tie offs drilled in the rock beyond the fence where you were standing? The Sea Cliff Bridge you drove across is i think the world's longest curved suspension bridge or maybe in the southern hemisphere? Anyway it appears in a heap of ads and also movies! Of a sunrise, it gives the best photos 👌 The RNP itself is so nice with so many walking tracks and waterfalls. I'm surprised you didn't call in to Wattamolla Beach. Its another famous area known for jumping off the rock! On the way down to Coledale, you would've gone past 'Bald Hill' which on a good day, has hang-gliders. Too late now!! Haha Glad you enjoyed your time in the 'Natio' and the 'Gong' 🙏✨️😎

Reminds me of working as a nurse in Derby ( Circa 1997), when we would do 'half-ways' in an ambulance on the Gibb River Rd, travelling for many hrs to meet a patient and take them back to Derby Hospital. These were tretrious trips back then! Irish nurse in the outback😂

Interesting, we have family that just upgraded to a VW Crafter Van 410 Thats had the back converted to an office & place to store x2 Honda CRF300L Dual Sports, they pull a Caravan but its a Jayco 4WD Cross Track 14ft Poptop I think. I haven't seen the Caravan but was interested in the VW Crater as its a 410 Rear wheel drive and can pull 3,200 kg *Do you guys do Reviews?

What a great run down of your best 10 camp spots . We live in Perth and have been to many on your list , spending lots of time in Exmouth /Ningaloo area especially in August and usually every February we are down Esperance way as we will be this year . We have 2 weeks booked in Cape Le Grand Campground , then a week at Orleans Bay CP specifically to access our very favourite beach , Wharton which we agree with you is the best beach in Australia . Following those stops we may head out to Cape Arid and Thomas River before heading to Augusta and Margaret River at end of March . We look forward to your 2025 adventures .

Similar things like that happen all over the world. I've been in a ski resort in France - out of season - and in southern Italy near Naples and had to move because I didn't feel safe. The world's full of arseholes. That's just the way it is.
