This happened to me at the age of 14 n the guy was 24. My life was shattered. My mother wanted me to marry the guy from church because she loved him for me but I did not. My whole family loved the brother. We got engaged n after a year I broke the engagement. Faking that I have a boyfriend outside church. It was so bad. My mother disowned me. This video broke my heart. I was like y did my mother not standing up for me like ur mom did. I was a child. Today I am 38 years n strong woman who loves n protects her girl children. My uncles are pastors but they never did this to their children but they supported their sister in forcing me to marry the brother. I forgave them. But it hurts. N I am still picking up the pieces even today.

I grew up in AOG it was my late grandmothers church. For me that was a normal way of doing things and marriage was a must, my first marriage proposal happened when I was 18😫. I went to varsity and realised I wasn't living my own life, my friends used to say I'm brainwashed. I left the church and I'm so happy now.

I can never trade my church for anything everywhere i go i make my previous church a reference.Thank God I know how a true doctrine is supposed to be because of AOG. Its ways of doing things helped a lot of people and there are still many young people who hold or held onto its teachings and are successful in life and I look up to them. In everything there are always those unfortunate cases. I admire their ways of doing things even though I did not take that path.

I'm happily married and live a comfortable life and for that I'm grateful to God but I cannot give any church credit for who I am or what I have, Period! ❤️

Thanks for sharing. I always find it interesting that once a man in the church becomes a widower, everyone gets to work right away to find him another wife. Sometimes so fast "the body isn't even yet cold" so to speak. On the other hand when It is a woman who becomes a widow, everyone thinks she should pine away in grief missing her husband and it is too soon for her to find another. In fact many expect her to remain single for the rest of her life.

Our sense of self is beyond any church procedure.We fight so many demons in different forms and yet there's this prison (procedure) hanging over our heads. I wish we can fellowship in a way that doesn't break a person more especially a woman in so many ways. Loved this story and the humour in it.... I was just at a door step of leaving my church because of procedure. And my parents are elders in the church 😔
