He's not used to using more air for the lower notes yet probably b.c that's his normal speaking range. When he's making that sliding transition between low and high or consciously singing (not purposely enunciating) he unconsciously uses more air so those come out smoother and stronger it seems

I don’t know what it is about Runaway but it strikes such a deep emotional chord in me for some reason yet still creates such a calming effect. Sometimes I have a hard time accepting my illnesses and disabilities and what a different path my life took because of them, but something about these lyrics gives me this content hope and reassurance. “I hold my life out in front of me Dreams of who I want to be I’m seeing every empty page But I find that everything I am Is everything I should be”

Ice cold is such an awesome song. I just wish they had half the energy performing 'Still Feel'.
@MenzLibera5 жыл бұрын
Yeah that song is definitely producer heavy, but was still expecting it to be a lot more lively! Maybe even a bit faster rhythm? But I almost feel like he was saving the energy for ice cold, and I wasn't too disappointed haha
@Fantasticanations5 жыл бұрын
Maybe that's the reason the 'choreography' is someone solving a rubiks cube and reading a newspaper. A subtle nod that the band is pretty bored of performing the song and feels like they 'have to' play it at this point.
@rudynd5 жыл бұрын
Fantastic don’t really think that’s the case?? i think the tiny desk space is a little too limited for them to go all the way out with that song; people who’ve seen them in concert say it’s much better in other venues

This performance doesn't do justice to their full live act. I think they felt a little constrained by the space, and it showed in their performance. They sounded much better both times I've seen them in an actual venue.
@dzonwatson97185 жыл бұрын
Well, if this is mediocre for them, I can't wait to hear them in full glory :)
@conniescurse73255 жыл бұрын
I feel like the second song specifically was pretty lacking without it's full arrangement, the chorus still carries things along enough though with the sweeping guitar chords. Also it seems like the lead singer wasn't very confident in the beginning of the song which gave it even more of a rough start, but by the end that was much better. I love the band though, I'm sure they're great live. I hope they make a lot more great music in the future. Though from this album and some statements I've heard from the band, I'm kinda worried they might veer into something that's simply too religious for my tastes.

RUNAWAY lyrics: I've been searching, nothing's working I've been tripping, no one's perfect Chasing vision, just the surface Shirt's on backwards, not on purpose, yeah I've been learning, something bigger Expectations, feet were failing I found blessings flowing from The sight of heaven Staring into my reflection Redirecting my perfection somewhere else When there isn't any progress Lean on truth inside the promise, it is well I hold my life out in front of me, dreams of who I want to be I'm seeing every empty page I find that everything I am is everything I should be I don't need to run away I don't need to run away I don't need to run away Something's working, heart is turning Vision's clear, and still I'm learning That what I am, what I am, what I am, what I am Is something more than I can plan Go, tell me now! I don't need to run away Have I been standing on a stage, or just a mirror? I'm forced to face who I become Searching for a new escape I scan the exits that embrace an easy out I hold my life out in front of me, dreams of who I want to be I'm seeing every empty page I find that everything I am is everything I should be I don't need to run away I don't need to run away (I don't need to run away) I don't need to run away I don't need to run away I don't need to run away No, I don't need to run away

I actually really appreciate how they performed Still Feel. If the premise is for their concert to be a unique performance, then they succeeded in restructuring the song to become more metaphorical in its essence. At first the instrumental is chaotic and dysfunctional but becomes progressively more lively and melodic towards the end. Just like a lot of their music, it takes a few listens for the message to hit home.

Lost in the in-between, or so it seems, I'm out of control Floating in outer space, have I misplaced a part of my soul? Lost in the in-between, but it can't keep me asleep for long, 'cause I still feel alive When it is hopeless, I start to notice And I still feel alive Falling forward, back into orbit And I still feel alive It is hopeless, I start to notice And I still feel alive Falling forward, back into orbit I still feel alive (I can feel it) When it is hopeless (It ain't hopeless) I start to notice (Start to notice) I still feel alive (I can feel it) Falling forward (Falling forward) I still feel alive I still feel alive

7:35 is better than the kimbra version. Wish they would release this version as a single too.

I love half•alive but i just haven't seen enough from them live. I feel like the singer is yet kinda scared of his voice and what he can reach or not certain notes with his head voice, is something that happens to every singer actually but he needs to get better from that actually, he hits such well and high notes that is really weird to see him getting nervous about notes he can sing well. Anyways, i know he will improve!! And he is improving, i hope i can listen to some better videos of them live!! ❤
