@@Antarr98 "Anything" is definitely harder to play than I thought it'd be... Tune to Open D#, that's a new one for me, and then those tricky chords where you barre just the two low strings and have to stretch your pinky over on the 4th string. Wasn't the simple play-along I was hoping for after picking up the guitar for the first time in a while, but I'll keep cracking at it. Beautiful music.

These albums came out as soon as I got home from the hospital from pancreatic cancer surgery, which saved my life. The seasons were changing, and I would listen to songs + instrumentals; and ONLY those albums, everyday as I tried to walk. They will always symbolize healing, hope, and the wonder of life for me. They are Adrianne's soul in song formation.

This. She and Elliot Smith are perhaps my two favorite songwriters. They each have the gift of creating intricate, complex, musically original instrumentation and lyrics while not being showy or flashy. It's all in service to the song as a balanced composition. They are the complete package. It's what I aspire to be as a songwriter.

Yes, there's a certain tender fragility to her voice that cuts deep into me & hooks me hard as a listener. Plus, she is able to quickly and adroitly tap into universal human experiences in her songwriting. Her voice plus her songwriting skills, in her case, are a deadly combination. The listener doesn't stand a chance here. She's that good.

I wasn't watching and I was listening to it, and I was like "why does that sound so weird but cool?" It adds just the slightest amount of percussion and it adds a subtlety that wouldn't be there if she'd picked or strummed it the "regular" way.

I've lately been in the habit of putting this vinyl on first thing on a Sunday morning. The moment the first notes of Two Reverse rings out, it fills my little flat in Berlin with an aura of otherness, other worlds, perfect heartbreak, the white curtains blowing in and out at the balcony door, sitting up in bed bleary-eyed, looking absently at the plants, thinking about Adrianne and people lost and maybe some people not yet found, all of us together here in these comments for a moment.

From someone who has played guitar for 10 years, this is a truly masterful fingerpicking display- the skill involved (in particular in two reverse) is astounding - Can't begin to imagine how somebody could pick up a guitar and produce that. On top of this is some of the most interesting, soulful and beautiful songwriting I have ever heard. Adrianne Lenker take a bow- My only disappointment is that my favourite song from "songs" (not a lot, just forever) was not included in the setlist, but i'll let that one slide :D

Just sublime. Utterly uncompromising. Best artist of the last 20 years. A run of 4 great big thief albums, whilst quietly running an equally prolific solo career. This album means so much to me it's insane. Adriannes music has been a crutch in my life for a few years now with my heavy anxiety and depression. I saw her in concert and she's so wildly talented it's sickenin. Love her

Absolutely stunning. Discovered Adrianne/Big Thief at Glastonbury 2021. It's the only time I've ever been bought to tears by a band i had bnever see before.
