How do you love rap when rap doesn’t love you back? From Rico Nasty’s harassment from toxic Carti fans, to Saucy Santana's unapologetically femme aesthetics in a queerphobic industry, to the assault case that put Megan Thee Stallion’s entire image on trial, each episode of Louder Than A Riot - the second season of our investigative hip-hop podcast - unpacks the unspoken rules of rap that hold the entire culture back. Tap in to our first episode at n.pr/louder-season-2.

The thought of the country’s leader approaching political turmoil with acoustic sets actually brings me a lot of comfort. Bless you, Phoebe. You’ve been my friend for years, and we’ve never even met.

What I love the most of seeing Phoebe play is how her gestures, although timid, say so much in certain phrases.

She just did it on Jimmy Kimmel Live & it was the first I'd ever heard of her. Made me cry. There are a lot of negative comments about the violin on the JKL performance, but I personally love it. I also love this version. Glad I found her.

Perhaps grey is the new...something? Grey hair, grey suit. Lucky for me if it was so. But no, I think not. It is just young peoples wish to become more serious. And I welcome them into the grey. Like Phoebe.

Perhaps this is the time for a grey revolution, we have president Biden with us, we greyhaired have never offended, persecuted, diminished, and so on. And if you are greyhaired and have done such things: well, you are fired! Only decent greyhaired people can join us. Perhaps we can start a world revolution, together with Phoebe? What do you think? And if you are to young, well, try to colour your hair grey, as Phoebe Bridgers,

I saw some people talking about the lyric "But you know the killer doesn't understand." And I think it's a really beautiful lyric, not only because the way in which she sings it is so soft; resigned, almost. But because its something that can be interpreted in so many ways. It's ambiguous in a way, because when you listen to it, you can reflect whatever you want onto it. It just depends on how you might interpret the whole song. it makes a direct juxtaposition with one of the first lyrics. it's genius. it could be taken as a "you are the killer. you are the killer and you don't understand what you're doing to me." "I am the killer. I have hurt you, but I cannot understand how I could have done it, because I was simply defending myself." "I am the killer. I would do anything for you. /if I could give you the moon, I would give you the moon./ you started crying, and I think that means you're afraid to the extent to which i would go for you."
