It was an old Schmidt-Rubin 96/11 for sale at Cabela's in Everett USA around five years ago that captured my attention and sparked me to get my gun license (I live in Canada). I now have four various model, including the outstanding K31 which is my best/favourite rifle to use. Love these guns.

1916 is when mine was manufactured and practically in factory new condition, it's that good.

I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy, quality and affordability of these rifles. The length also was a shock! It is even longer, at 51.5 in. than the MN 91/30 (48.5 in.). I had no rifle case long enough to hold it.

The expensive part is the ammo. 7.5 Swiss is about $1.50 per round. 8mm mauser surplus is about $0.46 per round

I own both a K-31 and an M1911. Beautifully made and extremely accurate rifles with the Swiss issue 7.5 ammo.Unfortunately, Switzerland has adopted NATO calibers and are currently not surplusing their 7.5 ammo.Therefore , it's hard to find and $ when one finds it-John in Texas

I'm very surprised that this action didn't develop into a gas operated semi auto... it's about a half step away from it.

Several straight pull and turn bolt rifles were converted to experimental semi automatic rifles but were never really adopted in any meaningful way

Depends on what you mean by "affordable". Current pricing is close to $1000. Love the rifle, wish I can buy one.

The G1911 is nowhere near $1000. They can easily be found for under $500 in decent condition.

The lebel used spitzer cartridges. It could do this thanks to the shape of the cartridge and the rim on the round.

False, the french were able to solve the problem of Spitzer ammunition in a tube magazine with the Lebel rifle.

Great video. I just recently got a K11 and the action was very stiff. I was able to get it in working order with rather aggressive lubrication. I made a video in case anyone else has this problem too.

was this weapon used in ww1?
@admiralgree38734 жыл бұрын
No, it was a Swiss rifle and the Swiss haven't gone to war in a long time.
