The inn isn’t failing but thriving. He sees her smiles and waves cuz he ain’t a dick. Introduces his wife to her as the ex he told her about that took an amazing opportunity in the city. He speaks kindly of her though not deserving of it cuz he knows no need to bash her for he has something far better.
