Reasons why Brace is the perfect host: 1. He consistently keeps the show flowing smoothly. If a topic is heating up, he will generally let that topic continue a bit longer than normal because that's what the viewers want. Even though the producers are responsible for this, he makes it seemless. 2. He realizes that the show is NOT about him. He doesn't interject with nonsensical statements as though he just likes to hear his own voice. He defers to the professionals for the technical analysis of the game. Is there anything more annoying than a talk show host who makes the show about themselves? 3. He's professional....but not too professional. Brace is not scared to laugh at himself, he keeps a jovial tone and positive attitude throughout. He looks like he's actually enjoying himself and doesn't come across as being too serious, while keeping a professional demeanor. 4. He's a genuine Rugby League fan. I listen to his podcast with Gus every week, and when Gus brings up a subject which most would find ominous, Brace generally has a good idea about what Gus is talking about. If Brace doesn't know what Gus is talking about, he will ask about it curiously as though he genuinely wants to learn. 5. Brace just comes across as a very likeable guy in my opinion. He looks like he actually enjoys his job and is doing it for the right reasons. He doesn't come across as an elitist. He's just an average guy, doing an above average job. Good on you James. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.

How many players grab their neck like they are never going to walk again then magically feel better after the whistle is blown? How many of these “crusher” tackled players ever leave the field? Until players stop trying to game the system then it will happen and stupid rules will be made to cover it.

How many NRL players milk for penalties now? Even in the play the ball, there’s milking all the time. That’s what you get when you make the rules so specific, coaches can manipulate gameplay to take advantage of the flaws. What Gus is saying isn’t in the rules, but it’s common sense. It should be the on-field referees interpretation of the play, does he believe the defending team was genuinely at a disadvantage or did it have no effect. The rule shouldn’t be black and white, the interpretation should be

I think they should add a rule that as soon as an attacking support player has past the ball carrier he has to attempt to decelerate/turn inside and if he is doing so then it is never an obstruction and then the refs can be even harsher on decoy runners that don't decelerate. Gus is right that the defenders intentionally get obstructed to place doubt on a possible try later in the play, but attacking players also continue their line past when they could have received a pass to disrupt the defence.

You’re not allowed blockers or people taking out defenders To avoid this from happening it’s good practice to stop short of the defence line run through the defence line Don’t run into the defence line and stand there inside outside shoulder doesn’t matter it just the outside shoulder you stand a higher probability of creating a block obstruction to the the defender
@owent20324 жыл бұрын
In most cases the defensive player is drawn to the decoy runner because if that decoy runner is passed the ball he is through the gap . That's what creates the space on the outside and overlap. Its not a Sheppard if they catch the ball on the outside.players shouldn't milk a penalty if they made the wrong choice

Gus obviously hasn't read the rules properly. The exact rule is, "‘Block’ or ‘Flat’ runner[s] (who do not receive the ball) must not run at (chest or outside shoulder of) defender[s] and initiate contact." So you can run at the chest or outside shoulder, as long as you don't initiate contact. Gus's argument falls apart if he acknowledges this part of the rule. Furthermore, at the end of the day it's still up to the ref to determine if the obstruction had an impact on the play. The rule continues, "The Referee or Review Officials can determine the significance of contact initiated by the ‘Block’ or ‘Flat’ runner[s] (who does not receive the ball) in impeding a defender’s involvement in a try scoring play." Come on Gus, at least know what you're criticising.

At around 2.30 Gal makes an argument that Gus can’t understand. He doesn’t understand what an overlap is and derails the argument because he wants to be right. He doesn’t give Gal a chance to comment and Gal never gets a chance to go back to that point.
@jasparsingh77074 жыл бұрын
The rule should be simple if an defending team's player commits to tackle an attacking player with or without the ball then it's an obstruction however if the attacking team player without the ball purposely blocks an defending player from stopping the ball to create an opportunity on the outside than it IS an obstruction.

That 2nd disallowed try was and is especially ridiculous
@John-kv7jo3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Hunt makes a defensive decision to tackle the lead runner. This does not disadvantage the defence and therefore the try should have been allowed.
@MP_1454 жыл бұрын
or, not have decoy runners in front of the ball 🙃 These rules are in place to allow more tries in a defensive game. You want line breaks and busts without offside players continue reducing the interchange rule. The six again change is the best thing, now let's drop the interchange to 6. Make the game about stamina and you will see open, free flowing running football again without offside players. Sure beats the 5 hitups and a hail Mary kick for the corner and hoping your winger can out jump another. Even bring back the need for the kicker to put players onside before they are allowed to move. You will see a better game open game.
@sentientbean14 жыл бұрын
Started in the 90s. Knock ons and forward passes that "came out of the hands" or bounced "forward". Best thing to happen to RL is six again. They need to fix the strip rules. Remove the one on one bit.

Gus' idea of an argument is him talking over everyone so no one else can actually make a counter point. The point he is making is the same for every single thing that gets sent to the bunker, there are often penalties that wouldn't be charged if it didn't go to the bunker, like a contested high ball and who's hand it goes off first but because a try has a huge effect on the game the lead up comes under extra examination. Everyone knows the rule and it is the same for all teams, if you are running a dummy line you have to either pull up or ensure you run the line right.
