Reasons why Brace is the perfect host: 1. He consistently keeps the show flowing smoothly. If a topic is heating up, he will generally let that topic continue a bit longer than normal because that's what the viewers want. Even though the producers are responsible for this, he makes it seemless. 2. He realizes that the show is NOT about him. He doesn't interject with nonsensical statements as though he just likes to hear his own voice. He defers to the professionals for the technical analysis of the game. Is there anything more annoying than a talk show host who makes the show about themselves? 3. He's professional....but not too professional. Brace is not scared to laugh at himself, he keeps a jovial tone and positive attitude throughout. He looks like he's actually enjoying himself and doesn't come across as being too serious, while keeping a professional demeanor. 4. He's a genuine Rugby League fan. I listen to his podcast with Gus every week, and when Gus brings up a subject which most would find ominous, Brace generally has a good idea about what Gus is talking about. If Brace doesn't know what Gus is talking about, he will ask about it curiously as though he genuinely wants to learn. 5. Brace just comes across as a very likeable guy in my opinion. He looks like he actually enjoys his job and is doing it for the right reasons. He doesn't come across as an elitist. He's just an average guy, doing an above average job. Good on you James. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.

It is just a matter of players gaming the system...........we see it now with “crusher” tackles. How many players grab their neck like they are never going to walk again then magically feel better after the whistle is blown? How many of these “crusher” tackled players ever leave the field? Until players stop trying to game the system then it will happen and stupid rules will be made to cover it.

How many NRL players milk for penalties now? Even in the play the ball, there’s milking all the time. That’s what you get when you make the rules so specific, coaches can manipulate gameplay to take advantage of the flaws. What Gus is saying isn’t in the rules, but it’s common sense. It should be the on-field referees interpretation of the play, does he believe the defending team was genuinely at a disadvantage or did it have no effect. The rule shouldn’t be black and white, the interpretation should be

I think they should add a rule that as soon as an attacking support player has past the ball carrier he has to attempt to decelerate/turn inside and if he is doing so then it is never an obstruction and then the refs can be even harsher on decoy runners that don't decelerate. Gus is right that the defenders intentionally get obstructed to place doubt on a possible try later in the play, but attacking players also continue their line past when they could have received a pass to disrupt the defence.
@owent2032
@owent2032 4 жыл бұрын
In most cases the defensive player is drawn to the decoy runner because if that decoy runner is passed the ball he is through the gap . That's what creates the space on the outside and overlap. Its not a Sheppard if they catch the ball on the outside.players shouldn't milk a penalty if they made the wrong choice

the rule should be something like the runner running a decoy should have to try and slow down but the beauty of a good decoy is it makes players commit, now i feel like it should be an obstruction if they run at the defender, the defender doesn't fully commit and the decoy knocks them over, but you also gotta think, i theres is a possibility of a half 1 meter in front of the line short ball to 2nd rower or out the back to the fullback, both are fair chances of getting the ball and have to run hard, if they don't they should try to slow down, but in that situation, it makes defenders commit to the 2nd rower no matter what happens. The bunker also needs to screw their heads on with milking and people falling over, they honestly must've never played the game before cause they are just so stupid

Get rid of the bunker and captains challenge. One ref one decision right or wrong move on with the game. If the on field ref or touch judges didn’t see anything wrong with the play continue on if they missed something don’t winged prove that your team is better try harder and you may win. Two teams have 80 minutes to win or lose a game if you can’t do it in 80 minutes and lose that’s life your team wasn’t good enough. Which brings me to golden point if neither team could do it in the 80 minutes call it a draw both teams get a point and move on to next round. Better luck next time

I would love to see a comedy skit now we have cutout cardboard for people in the crowd and the sound technician from Friends as the crowd sounds producer, and 2 ref's 2 teams willing to have some fun, what we need to do is have the ref's pull up on obstruction midway through the set of 6 awarding a penalty without a try being involved and just keep doing it for a while to just see a try on the end of 10 half sets of 6 thanks to the obstruction rule to see a try awarded without going upstairs but a blantent forward pass or knock on not seen, that would be funny.

The dragons sharks game is perfect example two decisions where it shouldn’t of been based of the bunker but common sense from the ref. First incident dufty would of scored that any day is chad didn’t take a dive as the man outside him couldn’t chase dufty down. The one where Ben hunt went in front of the attacker is more of a defensive error choosing to defend the wrong man simple ref what’s in front of you. If it’s completely oblivious and against rules than make the decision but it’s completely slowing the game down

Gus obviously hasn't read the rules properly. The exact rule is, "‘Block’ or ‘Flat’ runner[s] (who do not receive the ball) must not run at (chest or outside shoulder of) defender[s] and initiate contact." So you can run at the chest or outside shoulder, as long as you don't initiate contact. Gus's argument falls apart if he acknowledges this part of the rule. Furthermore, at the end of the day it's still up to the ref to determine if the obstruction had an impact on the play. The rule continues, "The Referee or Review Officials can determine the significance of contact initiated by the ‘Block’ or ‘Flat’ runner[s] (who does not receive the ball) in impeding a defender’s involvement in a try scoring play." Come on Gus, at least know what you're criticising.

Gus is wrong. if I run at an outside shoulder I can stop the defenders pathing to the tackle its that simple. Gallen even said if you have the ball you can run to his outside shoulder. its common sense why the rule is there. if every player is running the right lines drawing the right players a block will create the overlap every time. if the half decides to forget the lead runner and chases the sweater(fullback or half) then that's his decision but that creates a hole for the lead runner. the only thing ill agree with Gus on is that they go to the bunker way too much.
@geekoffaleashgamer616
@geekoffaleashgamer616 4 жыл бұрын
ITs so simple. Play the ball not the player. if you go to tackle someone with the ball and then get taken out by a runner then thats an obstruction. If you go to tackle the runner and then the ball goes behind him then thats your fault for not playing the ball.
