Beautiful! I love the sound of water falling from a falls, rushing down a creek. I could be there for hours just taking it in. We have several falls near where we live here in very Northern California. They are my favorite day trips by far. Thank you Tim, this and my cup of coffee have been a lovely start to my morning.

City girl here. Walking in the wet woods was like a wander land. The view walking down the stone steps with a canopy of leaves overhead could be a woodland painting. Refreshing.

What a beautiful place! There are so many places that I haven't visited or seen in Tennessee despite lining here for twenty - six years. In my 40's and 50's I would have gone there for a quick hick in a heartbeat, however, I would be hesitant to go there alone now. It's amazing what a couple of years and major life changes do to an adventurous spirit. I am grateful that videos as this one allows me to virtually visit many place now. Thank you for the trip,

Waterfalls, sunrises & sunsets are beautiful. I remember going to Ruby Falls when I was six or seven. The underground caves & falls made a lasting impression. Tried to swing by there in 2018, it was spring break, so very crowded. Maybe another time. Looking forward to watching your adventures. Thank you for sharing & letting us all tag along! From the East side of Texas - May God Bless you in all you do.

I love Benton Falls. It's been 5 or 6 years since I've been there. I just retired (sort of) a week ago. I've given myself this week off to catch up on things at home, but otherwise, I'm sorting it out. I'll be watching to see what I might expect.

Hi. New subscriber. I also was introduced to Benton Falls and Mckamy lake in 1975. My new husband and I would go camping as often as possible. This was 'back in the day' when the main facility was just walls and no roof. Cold water only and tent camping! We walked hundreds of miles across that knob. As time went on, we carried our children there often. I was raised in McMinn county close to the Polk county line. It has always been my idea of 'God's country. It has been updated quite at bit since then but it is still my favorite place to be. I used to work at the Hardee's in Athens about the same time you were attending Lee. How interesting! P.S. I usually go up/down the back way. Scenic as well.

At about 7:20, when you show the cairns, I have read in a couple of places that when you see those, you should knock them down. The idea being that people come to nature to escape signs of civilization and often to be alone and those rock piles serve as a reminder of people and are not natural-almost like litter.

Good stuff. I'm very fond of Benton Falls but I don't have nearly the history there that you have. I enjoy all of those overlooks too. I never knew you went to Lee. That's where Heather got her BS. She has told me about how many of the Lee students enjoy going there. Bears worry me there for some reason. I want to carry bear spray the next time I go there. That said I have never seen a bear on that trail.
@TheNewRetiredMe
@TheNewRetiredMe Жыл бұрын
I had forgotten Heather went there. Much different now. But so is Cleveland. :). Raider Drive where the old Shoney’s was marked the “edge of town.” 😂. The only time I really worried about bears was when I hiked up the entire mountain from the Ocoee. It doesn’t get hiked much. :). But I do listen for them. Encountered a six foot long snake once, though.
@karencox3235
@karencox3235 Жыл бұрын
@@TheNewRetiredMe Shoney's was the edge of town?!?! I moved to Polk Co. from So. Cal. in 1993 (30 years ago) and nearly always head to Cleveland for much of my shopping. Even since then it has grown so much... I never would have imagined Raider Drive was ever the edge of town, though. Wow.
