Thanks so much!! Let me know if there are videos you may want to see me do. Especially if it would help the way you perform your NS Design instrument

I don’t know how to play double bass but I kinda want to learn now. Diggin’ the NS uprights.

I love them because they are easy to travel with.

I ben putting foam 3/4" round foam on the other side of the thr bridge the floor side. It seem to get ride of light over tones in the background of the matrix of sound.

Why do you have the afterlength silks running over the bridge? The bass has the capability to take up the extra length of 3/4 size strings by pulling the ball ends up the back of the bass to the keyholes on the back plate. This effectively positions the strings properly, lining up the playable length of the string on the playable portion of the instrument. Also, the NinoMute is a great alternative with more control over the muting effect that you're after.

Very cool idea. And makes sense, since bass guitarists have been doing that for years. I've got an NS Designs electric upright too. Biggest annoyance for me is how the bass wobbles as I play it, unlike an acoustic upright that you can hold against your body. The wobbling is especially irksome when I'm trying to use a bow. Anyway, thanks for posting this video.

@@JonLaTonaBass Thanks Jon. I do use my shoulder against it sometimes, and that helps.

Would you use this while using the bow? I have the trouble that the notes have a long sustain while I'm playing different strings. Idk if it is because of my poor technique, this issue, or both 😅
@JonLaTonaBass3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t personally. Sometimes when you play in tune, if the note you’re playing matches the letter of an open string, it will vibrate if they are in tune. That’s not too troublesome to me. However, if you are bowing a different string by accident, practice bowing only the intended string.

How do you wrap the longer strings around the tuning pegs?
@JonLaTonaBass Жыл бұрын
These tuning pegs function exactly as they tuners on most non fender tuners.

Jon, the strings sound like a baby bass with the strings damp. What type of strings are those; I mean I know they are NS Design, My late late friend Salvador Cuevas (died in 2017) turned me on to them but I need another set.

These are actually labella orchestral strings

If you change your stock strings to real upright strings, change your tuning pegs!! My e string broke bc their stock tuners can’t handle real strings
