Oh, interesting. I hadn't thought about potential issues pairing an amp with one and just assumed my bass amp would be good enough. Well, at least for practicing, which would be the bulk of my playing initially anyway as I learn the instrument. Then again, I also often DI my bass into an audio interface, which may provide some additional options.

so the sound quality is the same in both models, only the matter of the charge in your battery changes

So is it correct that an NS Design WAV that passes through a Focusrite Scarlett USB interface (and out to studio monitors or headphones) is completely viable for studio recording? Am I losing anything by not going for an NXTa or CR for this use case?

I plugged my NS WAV bass into a Scarlett 4i4. I had to turn the gain all the way up and it's not very loud. But it works. Sounds better through my Fender Rumble 100.
