Don't care for the French Paraboot, or the Meermin. The rest of them...are all gorgeous. I would say my fav-o-rite, is the suede TLB. The Vass, Alden, and English, Foster and Sons...are all beautiful. Edit...I forgot about the Italian Paolo Scafora...that shoe...is awesome. It has a beautiful design. A beautiful shape.

Very nice shoes. The Aldens and Scaforas are superlative! Today I saw a video on KZbin by Petru & Claymoor (from Transylvania, Romania) which where nearly perfect. They are built close to the St Crispins factory (also in Transylvania). They were black (and I prefer browns) but oh boy do they do them well. Check the video post from the Musiu Academy to see them...

Thank you for your time creating valuable source! Quick question, i’m considering buying split toe blucher from Alden (J Crew online shop) and was wondering if ‘Suede’ might be a “No Go” on your opinion, since you have much more experience and knowledge on the split toe. What ‘might’ be some factors that i should be on the look out? quality on the stiching? I already own 2 pairs of wingtips from the Alden, which i had no issue at all (wore for 10 yrs now) if u could share some of your thoughts and suggestions, it would be an honor! Hi Lee Matt, I have a few suede split toe bluchers. They’re fine if they use really high quality suede. Alden’s aprons are a simple hand stitch and not a rail stitch or boars hair skin stitch so it’s not really going to lose anything being in suede that would be gained with higher end leather or craftsmanship. If you check out my boots in my Aden playlist I have a suede pair in loden. They’re from Ealdwine in Durham, but I believe the factory is the same for the RL series. Very few craftsman at Alden work on these aprons… I believe it’s only 2… so they’re in high demand. The stitching is obviously hand done and not perfect, part of the charm.

One more (if u don’t mind), Alden VS Berwick (in terms of blucher split toe Suede shoes in Tan or Beige) Berwick cost was half price of Alden. Do you think it might be because Alden is made in the US? (i mean, labor cost seems higher is the States, but wow!) We are talking $630 VS $300 shoes in Suede. Feel free to give me some insights! I’ve never owned a berwick but a lot of guys really like them. Yes Spain labor vs US labor. Plus Alden has a markup on its shoes just for the brand. They have stores reseller markup etc and Berwick has none of that infrastructure in its pricing.
