Being a former member and section leader of the BGMM we were a constant rival with NSU but I have to give this organization their just due. Of all the HBCU Bands I've heard play this FAMU, SOUTHERN etc.. The Spartan Legion hands down has the best arrangement of this song. I remember when they played it against us at the band brawl in 2004 and 'til this day I still love to hear them play it. Good Job Legion.

That arrangement was a masterpiece. Watching that crowd react to it seemed like I went back in time to the 80's. U dont really see reactions like that with the youtube generation. Still, this performance will go down as one of the best marching band performances ever!

This is a really good arrangement of this song. Lots of creativity going on here. Although FAMU's arrangement is a fine one, NSU's arrangement edges out in artistry.

@a7u0g6boi I MARCHED for NSU. I'm sure pushing the slides in is considered tuning... but it's a regional thing. Playing a concert G on the bartiones and it coming off super sharp sounding almost like a concert Ab-A is done on purpose I'm sure.

no, it was fine. Best ballad ever played? Maybe not but definitely WAY up there. If you would have heard it in person you would see just how POWERFUL they were at the power section.

@silkaem It IS done on purpose, and like I said, we have a sound that MANY imitate, but just cannot duplicate. It will never happen.... Thats how JSU has lost there identity in the 2000's.... Tryin' "keep up with the Jones's". Hell, I'll say the same for Granmblin and Bama State too.

It's strange that people talk so much isht about SU, BUT, when excellent HBCU marching bands are mentioned, we are in that discussion, but those OTHER schools aren't... @silkaem You march somewhere? I respect EVERYONE's program, but, I am still entitled to my opinions though.... No matter how harsh they are. And, SU "tunes" the way we do for very specific reasons, to get a certain effect. Maybe we are doing something RIGHT though.... Plus, it's NOT hard to imitate a "concert" sound..... But, I have NEVER heard anyone pull off imitating THE "S". A marching band with all jazz/brass band/blues concepts. Its a regional thing.

@mrsinister6 See, but what you fail to realize, is the end product that is the SU "Human Jukebox" is not based off of your vision or opinion..... It ALL fits into Dr. Isaac P. Greggs plan/vision perfectly. Purposely unconventional. Like I said, any school with a half-decent music program can imitate and pull off what 99% of you "other" bands sound like. None can, have or EVER WILL remake the sound that is SU. Not gonna happen, POINT BLANK

Ok, not to be a dick or anything, but this is miami dades highschool all star band for the dade vs broward allstar foot ball game. And at 2:06 were playing this. And we sound better. I don't know if that means that miami has the best high school or if norfolk has no tone. ... Probably both.

I know nsu is decent, but for the love of fucking god, play like you're a fucking meac band and play in fucking tune! Normally I like your sound, but please, for the love of god, tune! That would have sounded so much better in tune. I mean, it sounded great at the end, but the beggining was so bad I nearly turned off the video entirely. I'm not trying to put yall down, yall raw, but please, don't play this out of tune. I love this song.

Everything is just so lame about this band..... From the bands uniforms, to the flags uniforms, to the DM uniform..... To the DM's moves/routines/whatever you wanna call it, to the way the trumpets hold their horns in concert formation. Everything is WAAAAY to extra, like a Madea movie.
