I can only speak for myself, but the two NC bikes I own, a 2013 NC700S and a 2014 NC750S with 121000 km and 41000 km respectively, I won't swap for any other bike currently on the market. Fuel economy, hassle free inexpensive maintenance and high practicality are worth more than more horsepower. When the NT1100, which surely is a great bike, needs a valve adjustment I will take all that money and buy another year's worth of gasoline or two sets of new tires. Safe rides 👍🏍🙏😊

You hit the point Andree. NC750X is much more economical and practical than the NT1100, and that is worth more than any other thing. Average fuel consumption in the nt 1100 is 6L/100km while in the nc750x is 4L/100km, tha's a lot of money. In addition, nc750x has a great grunt to enjoy ridding a lot. I was considering to buy one of these bikes and definetely I will go for the nc750x DCT. Safe rides

@@MrWhothefoxthat Every motor can be tuned, that being said I don't think that the engine concept of the NC bikes is really layed out for that. However there is a pretty easy way to make the bike respond faster and that's what I did. I changed the sprockets. From 17 front to 16 and in the rear from 43 to 46. That does reduce the top speed but the bike does pull much better during overtake. That being said I do not ride the bike on high speed highway. Therefore my speeds are usually to about 160km/h or around 100 miles per hour. Safe rides 👍🏍🙏

In USA service costs at dealer are expensive. DIY more practical. NC750x DCT is DIY friendly and low cost. Agree low maintenance costs allows more funds for accessoies. NC can add side fairings, bigger windshield, top case, and side panniers. All can be undone when needed for city riding or lane splitting. More practical flexible mororcycle. Low center of gravity, low end torque, and seamless auto transmission, gives more riding enjoyment. That we all want.

I like both of these bikes, however, purchasing a bike that is brand new or a year or two old is a very expensive proposition as compared to purchasing a bike that's five plus years old. There's a lot of terrific older bikes out there for less than half the price of a new bike. Seems to me that's the wise way to go.

Great vid. I own a 2014 black NC750X DCT. I too have been thinking about the NT1100 but as much as I want one, I don’t think I can give up the agility and low maintenance. Besides; I’ve never once felt that I needed more. Cruising speeds on the motorway on the NC is more than enough and I’ve never felt it to be underpowered, albeit I always ride alone. I’m also hitting 50 years of age soon and I don’t think a heavier bike is the right way to go IMO.

I hear what you're saying. Agility, weight, fuel economy, maintenance, effortless highway speeds the NC750X has it all. But, when it comes to extended highway comfort for two riders and all year round weather protection, which is what I'd like more of, the NT1100 definitely has the edge. Believe me, if I could keep the NC750X and buy a second bike I would. 😉

I’m sorry to hear that the Africa Twin exited the list. I’ve had a 2019 AT adventure sport DCT that I use for touring and I’m exceedingly happy with it. The upright riding position and the power have been great. The one fault I noticed was some buffeting at speed that I solved with the much talked about piece of plastic behind the fork tubes (after buying three windshields!) to each his own and I’ll be watching to see what happens. By the way DCT is an absolute treat!

Excellent comparison. Thanks a lot for him. I have NC 750X DCT, year 2021 and maximum satisfaction. I'm only looking at the NT because if I were to change, it would only be for a moto that has a DCT and this is probably the only candidate for me. After this review, I was a bit taken aback by the width of the bike, even though the handlebars, or the width of the trunks, differ between cars. I also noticed a probably significant shift in the center of gravity and thus a subjective increase in weight. The approx. 2 l higher consumption is not completely decisive, but the roughly 66% higher purchase price is already a considerable difference. So if I don't win, I'll probably stick with my tried and true NC. Thanks again for the perfect comparison and always a happy return.

Interesting discussion and well presented. A new and different bike is always nice. But for me, I keep saying “but what would I be able to do on a different bike”? Loose my license because of a seductively more powerful bike ? Ride gravel roads faster (AT) and possibly outride my abilities? Spend a lot of $ on a new bike and get nothing for my old one? So I just have a nice cup of tea and a lie down till the lustful feeling of buying a new bike passes. 😢. But YOU must buy a new bike so we can live the dream through you.

Great comparison video and discussion going on here, especially those staying with the NC. I have a CB1300 and we've been together for 6 years and covered 11k miles. Like others here, every time I'm tempted to get another bike, I ask myself "What would I be doing on the new bike that I couldn't do on my CB?". My bike is probably worth £2000 (UK) and I cannot think of any bike that could give me so much with this price. As a daily rider, the NC 750x (dct or not) with its front trunk (frunk?) and completed with a 60 L top box is unbeatable. It's the true replacement of the NT700 V or deauville (which I had as my first large motorcycle). If you drive a lot in town, split lanes and use it as a "car", there's no discussion. My 2021 NC 750 is more than touring capable (but that's not why I bought it, I have a KTM 1190 adventure for that job). I can't understand why one would choose an NT1100 and loose the Africa Twin's off road and trail capabilities, whilst its is also a great tourer. The NT 1100 is admittedly only 3500 € more expensive than the NC 750x with similar equipments, but it's less practical.

Look at the relatively little difference in torque - even more interesting would be the difference in lower rpm, that´s what makes the NC feel more powerful as the difference in horsepower would suggest. Lower center of gravity, slimmer front, less fuel consumption, the front trunk - a lot speaks for the NC. Add handguards and the GIVI windshield and weather protection is more than fine. The thing I miss the most is cruise control, certainly not the weight or bulkiness of the NT or AT. - Very good video and arguments!

Just today I went to Honda dealer to trade in my 2019 NC750X DCT for 2022 NT 1100 DCT. I was waiting for this bike since Crosstourer (a great bike, but technologically outdated and run-over by competitors) was pulled out from sales. The replacement was long overdue! Got me a sweet deal, and my grey Stormtrooper should be in my yard some time mid-January! Great video BTW, those are questions I was asking myself too. NC 750 X is a great bike! I had 2 since 2016, and made over 50.000 km on it. If you are a solo rider, there is no problem to tour a globe on it (heck, guys were touring Silk Road from Europe to China on it, without a single glitch!). But after going on a two-up tour last summer, we discovered that we needed something bigger and comfier. NC had enough Omph! for our needs, no problem in that segment, but the pilon seat was too small and hard, and we were too crumpled when riding in tandem. Add to the equation that the NT comes standard with the central stand, cruise control, heated grips, panniers, built-in Android Car Play & Navi, 5V and 12V sockets, 180/60 - ZR17 vs. 160/60 - ZR17 rear tyre, 43 mm vs. 41 mm front forks and twin disks front versus single one on the NC, and decision to upgrade was a no brainer!

Hi Paul. Like you I have a 2020 NC750X - the difference being that mine is a DCT (which I love). Your comparison is very informative, I first viewed it last year a few days before I ordered my NT1100 (Silver grey - DCT). I put a deposit down at the end of November - on the understanding that when the demonstrator arrived - I would try it and if I didn't like it they would give me my deposit back in full because they were so confident that they would sell it to someone else. The demonstrator arrived in early Feb - I was the second person to try it and put over 100 miles on it that day - I loved it. The difference in power is strunning as it should be. It was very comfortable and really didn't feel heavier that the NC750. The engine sound is really totally different though - it sounds much more like a motorbike than the NC. It is definitely a lot more comfortable. My wife and I are going to tour the length of the atlantic coast of Ireland on it at the end of May and I am very pleased that she will have a more comfortable ride, and I will have plenty of overtaking oooomph even two-up. . I can confirm that you will not be able to get a helmet in either of the panniers. I have a top box coming on mine - it is 50litres and will take two full-face helmets with no problem. I get mine a week from today and I am very excited. I would be very happy to report back once I have it. Thanks again for your informative video!

excellent work, I am in that dilemma today... disadvantages that I see in the nc750x 2022; not good for long rides as a couple, don't like a single front disc, short travel front fork (if you want to get off the tarmac a bit), no abs control in corners, small gas tank. I like it; for city, single highway, going to work, low consumption, good torque at low revolutions. NT1100 2022 I don't like it; without abs in curves, standard fork not inverted, going out on a road without asphalt is very risky, higher consumption although it is not excessive compared to other touring. I like it; power, good for traveling as a couple, aerodynamic protection, conford... clearly both with DCT... I think for those who live in the city and can only buy one motorcycle (I would choose the NC) but if you don't have to deal with traffic and you also like to go out with your wife, without hesitation the NT (it is my choice) ... I have in my portfolio three BMW RT1200 (2009, 2011 and 2015) of similar price to those mentioned with less than 50,000 km and a Honda ST1300 of the 2010... if someone has experience in them it would be a great contribution for me. I was looking at this new NT1100 in the UK and although it is a good tourer I personally think paying the higher cost £13000 in the UK this is not in my price range I paid £6200 two years ago for the NC750X DCT and due to the pandemic and lock down my mileage is still low on this bike, so I personally will be keeping my ever faithful NC for now. Thanks for your comparison 👍

As somebody with 4 bikes (one is supposedly Mrs' ;-) ), I would say nc750x makes more sense if commuting and occasional longer trip. For long high speed runs, the 1100 is way better (although for the money I would expect shaft). Between my cb500x and SuperTenere, smaller Honda is so much more practical and I even rode it on 2000 miles trip. Now, I had trips that would have been no go or quite challenge with 500x due to weather. Not an easy choice. Maybe Mrs can keep nc750 (just in case she wants to ride) and you get the bigger one :-)

Hey man I currently ride a 2014 cb1100 and I'm thinking of upgrading. By the way all I do is daily commuting with my bike as it's my primary transportation. (I didn't want to go with the cb1100 but I didn't have many options open to me when I got it a year ago and I needed to upgrade from my scooter since I'd be riding highway) I can't keep doing my current bike it's nice and fast. But the maintenance is litterally double the nc750 in every aspect. I don't go anywhere often but most of my riding is intact highway. Which bike do you think is better?
@oknevals
@oknevals 2 жыл бұрын
@@Shadow-Reaper For commuting, I think nc750x may be the best of all. And, you can do pretty much anything other than off road. Another good commuter would probably be kawi Versys 650 but new nc has more electronic control for bad weather. Suzuki v-strom is another popular unicorn. But, nc750x would be my first choice if commuting is my primary goal and I can only afford one bike.

An excellent breakdown that many who are considering an upgrade will find useful. The windscreen, heated grips, range and seating position, for me, means an extended riding season as well as more comfortable touring. Being that this is being touted as a tourer, I fault Honda for the chain drive. That rules it out for me. But, for those who don't mind hotel or campground maintenance chores, it is an attractive bike with a rock solid engine and the availability of DCT. I enjoyed your video...thank you. Edit: I don't know if you would be comfortable with it, but I have a "Helmet Guardian" on my RT. It bolts on behind the license plate and has locks for two helmets. I wouldn't leave mine unattended in a sketchy place or anywhere for a long time. But for a lunch stop, a quick run into a store or a bathroom stop it has been fine.

I own and have owned a many bikes due to that bike addiction many of us experience. I can tell you in my situation I tend to grab the bike that is the smallest CC (lightest) and with decent storage the most. My big adventure bike I would be happy to ride once a month, that’s when you get over the initial excitement. Out of all the bikes I have I tend to ride my Honda PCX 160 as my daily, with my CRF250L secondly. Sport bikes and adventure bikes are lucky to get a ride out once a fortnight. The favourite bike I own is generally the last one I purchased. In conclusion to your question, trade or keep, always trade, that’s what keeps bike riding interesting.

Hi! Promised I would be back with news about the Honda NT1100 when I could get a look at it. It’s now for sale in Denmark and I went to the dealership to have a look. It is still to cold here in Denmark for a test ride, but my first impression is: Good looking bike, size is fine as middle sized tourer. I felt a bit cramped with my legs, but maybe that’s just age and stiff legs, I’m 53 years and 6.1 tall. Otherwise riding position is great, arms not fully stretched and only a little bit forward leaning. Seat can be replaced with higher model. Passenger, nice seating but uncertain about legs bend (didn’t bring my wife) Side bags are small in size but ok for a small trip over the weekend for two people. Overall it Loks like a good Tourer I would say a good replacement for the Pan European. Not a Goldwing but I think it will be a good commuter motorcycle you still will be comfortable riding for longer trips. Greetings from Peter.

I didn’t actually get it until September, and I was one of the lucky ones. A lot of people who had deposits on bikes had their orders canceled. Needless to say this made a lot of people upset I’d imagine. It’s not just bikes that are hard to get it’s personal watercraft and Quads also. Lots of people who have discretionary income from not taking vacations so it’s a high demand low supply situation. I doubt they will bring the 1100 to the US or some other countries if they potentially have to cancel orders and upset people. Especially when they have the opportunity to clear out some of their other models…like your friend who just bought a Twin instead.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if the side cases hold a large FF helmet as they do look narrow, the right side is 1 litre smaller than the left, and the both have leg cut outs for the passenger. That height and angle adjustable screen sounds intersting but the winglets will move with the screen as one piece which may cause buffeting. Otherwise, the trade is a no brainer.

Nt1100 is double the price for the NC these are 2 different Bikes. Would you compare an Honda St vs an Honda 600cb?
@BikesILike
@BikesILike 3 жыл бұрын
No, but I didn't do that did I. I believe Honda have stated that they wanted a bike that NC750X owners could upgrade to, hence the NT1100. Learning what extra you get for your money is of great interest to me and many others.

@@BikesILikeOoops commented the wrong video im sorry! And yes it offers a lot more than the NC especially for longer trips with pillion with more power and comfort. Me personally going to stick with my dct for a long time forward. I "downgraded" from an BMW rt to the NC for an more nimble bike and less wind protection only issue ill have is the heat during summer. 😆

I suppose you will only know once you ride the NT1100 but another great vid.. I currently have an NC750X and a VFR1200X so if i do change then it will be the 1200X that goes, but, and it a big but, I love the v4 of the 1200X and would miss it greatly so will just have to wait and see how the new bike pans out.

Nt1100 panniers can't get a helmet fit (except xs, even those not fine) you gonna need a top box and got 15kg less payload (then the 750x). Not my cup of coffee both of them, since they r twins. But hey people r different and good to have the option :)

That NT has a really noisy buffeting screen based on the info that is out there.
@BikesILike
@BikesILike 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is disappointing to hear. I'm wondering if it suffers from the same buffeting as the Africa Twin? That can reportedly be resolved by fitting a fork updraft deflector. I'm hoping it's an easy fix like that.

Thank You for Shearing A sport tourer? ”all right” Honda! with open chain drive ❓let us at least get a closed chain covering with a possible auto-oiler like on your smaller Honda bikes on a tourer to get rid of the nasty chain cleaning and mantainince 🤢

Nice review thank you. When I saw the NT1100 and the Suzuki GSX1000GT, I wondered about swapping my 2020 Versys 1000 SE GT for one of them. When I bought the Versys, I knew it was a fairly heavy and tall bike, but really there were no close rivals except (IMHO) overpriced BMWs. But the NT1100 panniers don’t take a full-face helmet, and I do like the smoothness of my four. And the electronic suspension, lean angle ABS, cornering traction control etc setup on the Versys seem way more sophisticated. The Suzuki bizarrely has no centre stand which will make chain maintenance a nightmare. Also, Suzuki advise that a top box should not be fitted to the GSX, which sort of goes against its touring capabilities (and also makes me wonder about its stability and weight distribution). None of these compromises apply to my Versys. I will of course reserve judgement until I get a chance to ride the NT1100, but I don’t think I will be trading the Kawasaki just yet!
@BikesILike
@BikesILike 3 жыл бұрын
Can't argue with that logic Charles. Can I ask what you think of the 2020 model Versys seat? I had the 2016 Versys 1000 and the seat was not good. It had way too much angle on it and every time I hit a decent bump I'd be bounced forward onto the tank. My wife also found herself constantly sliding forward. We ended fitting a Corbin seat to make things a lot more comfortable.

@@BikesILike I must say I’ve never had a problem with the seat, and I have done some long days in the saddle. I don’t take a pillion so can’t comment on that. Thanks for your reply, I must point out that my local Honda dealer has me on his list for a ride on the NT as soon as it arrives!

Hello from Atlanta, Georgia. USA. I have been thinking of a new bike but haven't found anything i really like. But not that i see this nt1100 i would really like it to come to America. A blue on black would really be nice. I would actually consider trading my ctx700 dct in for one of those with a dct.

Hello all I used my Honda nc750x for my long trips ( UK to Africa )in last a few years , until this year I decided to buy a ATA 1100 Dct , which I bought one , but in last a few days I used my new bike around a town i noticed this bike using lots of fuel , I don't know is this bike using too much fuel on motorway as well as or no , because I can get 85mpg on my Honda nc750x . So please advise me . I don't know to keep my new Africa twin or sell it , because in going Africa again this year and I have to make a decision which bike it's better and cheaper on fuel. Honda nc750x or Africa twin adventure sport 1100 Dct. Thanks

My 2020 particular NC750X is a manual model but the current NC750X is available in either manual or DCT. If it's sold in your market.

Just wish the NT 1100 was available in the US as I purchase it. Like as how I have 5 bikes all adventure bikes and Hondas. The AT has street tires on it now for touring even as it has many mods for of road. Then the CB 500X set for adventure riding. A CL 360 emp and CT 110 fortune of the New Trail 125 then a new CRF 300l rally and sold the crf 250l. Ot sure I need another bike but 1100 would be great, just wished they had drive shaft. I understand it would cost more and be a bit heavier

The NT1100 may still be coming to the US. Although it's not officially mentioned on the Honda Australia website we've learned it is indeed coming but we won't see it here til mid 2022.

Africa Twin for off-road touring. NC750C DCT for everything else. No need for an NT. If you want a touring bike, just get the Yamaha T9.
