Nothing beats doing it yourself. The pride and also not getting ripped off by overcharging fab shops or mobile welders

I bought my first welder at Harbor Freight 2.5 years ago. Never was into welding but wanted it for small things. Planned on just flux core cause i didnt want to drop a lot of money on something i wouldnt use much. Within a month i traded back in and got the Vulcan 220. Then i bought 330cf tank of 75/25. Then a welding table. A ton of steel. Then i bought a porta band saw and swag table, Then an Evolution chop saw. Numerous grinders, Oxy acetylene torches, plasma cutter and a JET drill press,die grinder and all kinds of various discs,welding helmets,clamps magnets angle finders etc.. Just bought the spool gun and now fixing to get some 100 Argon. All because i saw that cheapy on sale for 200.00 and it turned into this. Only welder i have owned but i love messing around with this stuff and mine has been great since i bought it. No issues. Oh and if you havent found it, that front panel pops down revealing a small compartment right under the main center knob.

Wow this is the best review... details like the gas valve issue on TIG is the kind of things I dont see anyone else mentioning in "reviews", super helpful and a deal killer for me on whats supposed to be a multi-process welder!

Almost impulse bought one of these b/c I'm tired of just having a stick welder. Thanks for the review, looking forward to see how it holds up.

You've undoubtedly learned by now that with the addition of a spool gun you can mig-weld aluminum, I haven't tried mine yet I'm just now getting ready to hook mine up at all
@douglasalsbury7136 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a great product just gotta make sure you get the right spoolgun. I made that mistake, drove like 2 hrs to the closest harbor freight. But the staff was really awesome with ordering me the right fit up. This unit runs aluminum pretty well!

I have the 205 Vulcan. Love it. I also have the 170 titanium for mig. Both are great. I was always used to Lincoln and Hobart. But for the price and the warranty. And I have a harbor freight 5 minutes from my house ….. I rolled the dice and went with these two welders. I watched Mike festiva and other guys who really liked them as well. They are not harbor freight welders !! But they are sold at harbor freight. People think your talking about the harbor freight brand when you say you bought a welder there. In my opinion the harbor freight ones are not worth the money. Don’t over look these welders. And Buy the warranty. It’s just good insurance

Seems like Harbor Freight is closing the gap with many high dollar tools. They sure have made the investment it testing many of the things they sell. Thanks for the comment.

What you wrote, "In my opinion the harbor freight ones are not worth the money. Don’t over look these welders. And Buy the warranty." seems contradictory.

So by the instructions telling u which cable goes where for a particular weld type, you are essentially swopping polarity to get the best weld for that situation. Is that correct? I want a machine that has DC+ and DC- capability for flux welds. Just want to make sure this machine can do that.

Unrelated, but I wanted to make a comment on a new post, in the hopes of you seeing it. I have a set of industrial casters to donate to your langmuir xr cnc project if you are still interested in doing a portability modification. I bought a set myself and have appreciated all your videos. Cheers.

I'm in a market for a decent welder. I was told to stay away from welders that can do all thing good but not one thing great. This welder would make lots of sense if it was a bit more adorable. Harbor freight is getting to be competitive in pricing but not so adorable. Love your videos!!!

I am going to continue testing it. Not yet comfortable telling anyone that this is a great option. So far, I like the welds it has been putting down, but I need to last for a while. I just got done adding a hitch to my old trailer. Will see if I can make a video out of that. More to come from using it in Mexico too.

@@ntdracing A year later how do you feel about? I bought one the other day but debating if I should just trade it in for the 215 that just does mig, seeing a lot of people saying not to get the multiprocess but I thought it would be fun to practice tig with it
@ntdracing Жыл бұрын
Love it. Just got done MIG welding 1/4 plate. I use this over my two Miller welders. I still use my Miller for TIG, but this one puts down a nice TIG weld too.

what is the setting you use for the quarter-inch weld? Mine keeps tripping the breaker, what do you think is causing it to trip?

Dude...how on earth do you keep your shop perfect? I would never get anything done if I kept my shop I that kind of order. How do you accomplish this? Where do you find the time to do such?

It clears my mind and helps me solve problems when I clean my shop. Anytime I misplace a tool, I clean until I find it.

I am split between this or the Vulcan 210 TIG machine. It seemed like this TIG set up did not work for you. DO you know if the valve issue is the same? thank you.
@ntdracing Жыл бұрын
The 220 is a great MiG welder and a good option if you need to TIG. There is no auto valve for the argon, so you need a torch with a valve that you can turn on and off manually. I want to try the 210 too. I think a dedicated TIG welder would be a better option for me considering how much time I spend TIG welding.

@@ntdracing thanks for the response I will have to look more into it. I am just a hobbiest and think with the time I have should "master" just one type. It seems the more relaxed version.
