This is wonderful to see someone who is not an architect speaking about the process and the costs. Love it and he's done a great job.

Actually, Having studied architecture I feel I can say. Architecture is a beautiful field but when I hear an architect talk about projects... Jesus... nothing less exciting. I am amazed at how a group that - in theory - studies and designs spaces has so little connection to reality. Strange to say the least.

Nah, I find it distracting. Why am I reacting (good or bad) to the persons personality (could be the architect or inhabitants). I’d rather let their homes do the talking (they say ALOT) don’t need more jabbering on top of that. There are millions of videos like that if we want that.

Amusing- Sean speaking Italian in the beginning and Italian subtitles showing up on my computer screen. I was thinking, "wait a minute- I have my subtitles (CC) set to English!" I was just about ready to stop the video and check my settings but then he lapsed into English. Made me smile. I am hearing-impaired (and hearing aids don't fix everything) so I often rely on CCs/Subtitles (and context) to understand what I am hearing. Anyway, Sean gave me my first smile of the day (watching this in the early AM).

I sooooo can relate to this guy. Last year I went through the same thing and It leaves you a little traumatized by the experience. I bet it must be awesome to just pay people to do it and hand you the key after everything is done, but it takes a lot of strenght to do this, mentally most of the time. The amount of work he put on this, makes it even more special. That shower is a hole experience, it looks really beautiful. Probably will evolve to an even better place in the future, I bet. Ps. Also, LOVE THIS FORMAT. Not to sound shady, but most of the time, people on this channel speak like robots, and Its so refreshing to see this change.

I love his DIY approach. I did the same with my apartment although I did not renovate it from the scratch, it was renovated and looked ok (although I don't like the bland tiles but there is nothing I can do about it because it's rented) but I went to the hardware store for example and asked if they had any flooring for sale and they *gifted* me quite some cork click-parquet with two different designs. One with finer cork pieces and one with bigger ones and I made a little design "island" with the bigger pattern under the kitchen table and it looks perfect. Gifted! 👍🏻 And cork is such a cosy material. Natural and simple. My Dad and me layed the floor and I can totally relate to the fear of cutting out the space for the sink and the stove in the kitchen... You need to subtract 1cm or so from the outline so that your appliances don't fall through the hole. I died a million times on that day. 😄

So happy to see a real story of someone doing it on the budget without a lot of knowledge. "I came to realize maybe I'm not a perfectionist" - is what I can say about myself, too, after purchasing a property, attempting to fix the issues that bothered me a lot when I moved in and gradually accepting the imperfections. I have a dent on my fridge (Stainless steel Samsung, lol), that I also covered with a calendar. Not going to replace it just because of the dent.

Done an amazing job but the only tidbit I would've recommended is instead of using glasswooll or whatever mineral wool that was would've been to use a natural insulation such as woodfibre, hemp or sisal. Natural insulations have much higher specific heat capacity and therefore can absorb more heat and therefore it takes longer for heat from outside getting in and is particularly good at reducing overheating. They're also just way more pleasant to work with.

This is my first time finding another person who actually found the IKEA Online Kitchen Planner to be useful for purchase outside IKEA! I actually saved 50% from my kitchen budget because of that kitchen planner. Usually customers get free 1-hour kitchen consultation with IKEA specialist where essentially the staff is going to help you draw up the plan and printout the picking list for the warehouse on the same planner. Because I already drew mine, I got an actual consultation where she recommended cheaper series that matched my measurements, gave me the measurements where to put the sink, got rid of the plumbing kit and sink from the list and ended up with half of what I budgeted to spend. I was grateful for her help.

I'm a lamp-person, also. I only use my overhead lights to enter a darkened room safely and then turn on the table or floor lamps. Even with a "yellow" (warm/soft) bulb(s) in an overhead fixture it still isn't as warm and welcoming (to me, personally) as the light cast by table or floor fixtures or even wall sconces. That's just me...
