Had been considering the idea since I bought it, everyone just kept telling me to change the surface. Tried lots of different grits with some success here and there, but regardless of the surface the lane just seemed to play really tight. Did throw a 279 with the box surface, but muscle was doing the work that night (lots of light mixers). Watched this video last night and said screw it, hit it with 2000 and put the shine to it. Just got back from my practice session threw 3 games exclusively with Blue, 204, 226, 234. Rode 10 board at 17-18MPH and probably 350-400 revs and could miss right basically to the gutter if I caught it good, it would recover, and I could miss left 4-5 boards and it would slide right through the break and find the pocket. Awesome stuff, Thanks Nick.

Exactly what I was hoping for.. thanks Nick. I was thinking this ball might be slow to friction with some polish. Some balls like this when polished are too quick off the spot. Im always looking for good weaker balls so I can play the angles I need to. But most weaker balls are way too skid flip and im tired of 9 pins lol. Revs are a blessing and a curse..

I am a guy with low ball speed 14.30 at the sensor down lane and I have 290 to 300 revs. I bowl on 30-year-old spl lanes that have a ton of early friction and am currently using weaker balls to battle that early friction. weak balls don't have the same hitting power as do higher end equipment, so carry is an issue with a weak ball, I love to play up the boards like you did in the very last shot on the video this ball shined up looks really good, you kind of seem like you're against the shiny blue hammer. but I got to say it looks like it could be a real option for a guy like myself who isn't super comfortable with playing too far left and likes to keep the angles in front of me, it really looked good and controllable which is what I'm looking for, some low-end balls do get a little quick off the pattern and I don't care for that kind of ball motion, smooth and controlled for me, am I crazy for wanting to try this ball for the conditions I'm facing? is there a better way to battle early friction? how would you advise me if we was working together?
@brunsnick
@brunsnick 11 ай бұрын
Yes it could work for you for sure, however 14.3 at the pins is plenty fast. I wouldn’t call that low speed at all. It usually takes me throwing it 18+ off my hand to have an entry speed of 14. You’re just bowling on some really dry lanes. 👍🏻

I don't have any dull bowling balls except the White Brunswick Quantum Bias...I only throw polished stuff...I hate solids (especially the Bias as I have to sand it every week to get the marks and oil off the ball...I hate it but I won it off a online raffle so I don't throw it hardly anymore), so I let the weight block and roll dictate stuff on our house shot pattern...but my preferred ball motion is polished...solids never worked for me...

I want to play up 5 on a house shot since that’s what I have to do on every sport pattern ever, but have yet to find that trick ball to make it happen. Best balls I’ve found to do that so far are a 5 inch pin axiom pearl and a dark web hybrid. Both balls really roll off the spot and help the ball from overhooking , but I still have to dump it to get it through the fronts while still upping my speed. It’s a trick I can do but not with any kind of consistency during a league set. I wonder if shining a blue would be the ticket to me hacking a house shot? Nick, did you play with misses any after you turned the camera off? Curious as to what an inside miss would do on the oil line if you were trying to lay down on 7 and get it out to 4 or so downlane. Maybe going like 4.5x35 would help? I’ve tried all kinds of urethane like this and it’s just WAYY too early
@brunsnick
@brunsnick 11 ай бұрын
I didn’t experiment with it off camera, all the shots were used in the video. A NU Blue would be even slower responding and smoother than Dark Web Hybrid.

I am a little confused by what you said. I was told that a high RG ball means it wont hook until rather late in the lane, but you are saying that it should start hooking early. Whats up with this?
@brunsnick

RG doesn’t matter nearly as much as coverstock. That will dictate 75-80% of the motion.
@youarebeingfooled
@youarebeingfooled 11 ай бұрын
@@brunsnick ok, and coverstock is like the finish on the ball right? like the grit or polish? so a polished ball should also be hooking rather late? still new to a lot of these ideas
@brunsnick
@brunsnick 11 ай бұрын
@@youarebeingfooled yes, typically duller balls will hook more and hook earlier as they dig into the lane. This ball has a cover that is dull out of box but I shined it for this video to see what it would do. 👍🏻
