I binge-watched most of your videos yesterday. I like how you choose to edit your videos: no constant talking and no background music, just the important sounds of craftsmanship at work. So much is lost when you cannot hear the tapping, scraping, drilling, and buzzing of tools. Add to that the quality of your work and how you show close up every piece as it is being taken apart, what I see here reminds me of a TV show that I watched many years ago (I forget the name.) You do outstanding work.

If you have trouble with seized parts you can boil the assembly in oil. The oil gets very thin and can penetrate tight spaces. That works especially well if you have a steel piece stuck in an alloy piece as the heat expands both parts - but the alloy part will expand more due to the physical properties of the metal. Hope this helps in future restorations! Edit: I think that white gunk on the large threaded pieces was old sealant or nylon ribbon used to keep an air tight (or water vapour tight if your in a submarine) seal.

I noticed whilst you were removing the rubber seals during the dismantling stage that they appeared to have had some sort of sealing solution applied to them when new. I was a little surprised to see that you didn`t bother to use some sealant during reassembly. I know that it`s unlikely to go back to sea on any vessel but even if you used it as an outside light at home, the extra weather protection would keep the water out of the lantern. Good job all the same.

If have a metal housing (especially around water), you really want a 3 wire cable/plug that has an earth (green) wire. This wire gets screwed into the housing. That way if a wire gets loose and touches the housing, all the current will flow to the ground wire, and not to your hand. You might also want to get some anti-seize grease for those screws so they don't seize up in the future (it also makes threading them in a LOT easier). Great video though, I enjoyed it a lot! Wow those things were overbuilt for holding a bulb.

Idk if this is because I'm dumb or I watch your videos when I'm about to go to bed but it always takes me forever to get the liquid ice joke lol. All jokes aside, I love your videos and you've inspired started restoring things

I noticed one item that you reversed when reassembling. The two large ports on the top... when you removed the metal fitting, you then removed a metal washer and then the large rubber washer. When reassembling, you replaced the metal washer first, then the rubber washer. I don’t think it matters unless you plan to install it back on a submarine. 😉 Very cool restoration thought.

great j ob on the restoration! ..however, on reassembling the Wire Gland, you put the washer in first, then the Rubber Compression Gasket. The washer is supposed to be between the rubber compression gasket and the threaded bushing. The washer is used like that to stop the threaded bushing from tearing up the Rubber Gasket when tightening it. ...love the content btw! I've been taking in a lot of your videos recently!

Random thing that happened to me last night: I was watching tv at 12;55 am on a Tuesday night like any normal person would. ( I’m obviously being sarcastic.) and I was watching spongebob and all of a sudden my tv freezes. Me: why. Then... the blue screen comes on. As of me immediately figuring out its the emergency alert system, I almost pissed my pants but I was too petrified to move(I didn’t) Me: R.I.P my tiredness
