Love the new MSR system, making the MSRs themselves somewhat easier to design and build should make for more complex builds further down the line, as its easier to use multiple different coolants now, you're gonna have to handle these different coolants separately as well, which adds more thinking and balancing down the line, can't wait to see what the new heat exchangers will look like, keep up the good work!

Thanks very much! Hopefully then turn out nice :)

*Note:* I should explain in a little more detail how the "heating speed" works. In both solid-fuel reactors and MSRs, each cluster has its own heat multiplier, efficiency and other stats - the controller usually shows weighted means of these for the whole design (in the future, fission monitors will be able to focus on particular clusters). The heating speed of a cluster determines how quickly NaK is heated in its coolant heaters. For example, a heating speed of 200% will produce 2 mB/t of hot NaK, 400% will produce 4 mB/t, and so on. If the cluster is heat neutral or heat positive, the heating speed is equal to the standard efficiency. If the cluster is heat negative, the heating speed is multiplied by the ratio of heating to cooling, which will make it lower than the efficiency.

I have a suggestion. When using the radiation scrubber, holding them as an item should highlight the chunk like immersive engineering core samples. I now you probably won’t see this, but if you do, it could make the mod a bit easier to use.

The Geiger counter and Geiger block will do this, but sure, I can add it to the scrubber too :)

I'll admit, I miss the old MSR style. Built a massive emerald nak countercurrent exchange MSR on an Enigmatica 2 expert server last year (with a lot of empty space in the reactor casing for a mock reactor pool) and I really loved the thing. Even if it looks like the modpack appears to have done a fair bit of config fudging to make the mono-coolant style work as well as it did.

Heat exchangers will be similar to how they were before, just less of a pain to get set up and with more realistic thermal physics ;)

So, would you then need 5 different heat exchangers - one for each type of coolant? It seems like a lot of extra work and extra complexity, just to get to the same point that a solid fuel reactor gives you - steam. Is there some other benefit to MSR's that's not apparent here? Not trying to criticize, just trying to understand why you'd bother.
@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
You can use different types of hot coolant in one heat exchanger - you just have to set up independent lines for them. Ultimately the steam per unit fuel is greater for MSRs, by two or maybe more more depending on what people testing it all out think :)

To be honest the new MSR kinda feels like a reskinned SF. The pipes were the fun part I think but I agree that It was quite frustrating. Is there any config to keep the old system for MSRs?
@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
There is not I'm afraid, since the system is totally different. What I have been thinking about for a month or so is extra quirks to make MSRs different - right now there's the heaters in moderator lines and emergency coolant, but there may be more stuff later on if it doesn't feel forced :)
@rdvanu61814 жыл бұрын
@@NuclearCraftMod thanks for the quick reply. I think that MSRs should be more harder to build not by gating and materials but rather with logistics and complexity. Right now they seem like a direct upgrade. High reward should come from high work. I can't really explain but I hope you get what I mean. I am looking forward to further updates. I am sure you will find a way to balance things out. Good luck!

@@rdvanu6181 I get what you mean, and some people will certainly rather have it more complicated, but I just have to go off the fact that almost no-one used the old ones, and even Direwolf didn't seem to be able to bring himself to do a spotlight on them :P

I'm curious as to whether this mod only works well in large tech modpacks or whether it can be configured to/already works well as an endgame in more realistic/immersive tech modpacks (with the only other tech mods being something like Immersive Engineering)? I haven't used it much but it looks very fun from these videos and from other youtubers using the pre-overhaul version
@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
It tends to find its way into the bigger packs, but I'm sure with a clever use of CT, it could be made an end-game mod for a 'lower-tech' or realistic pack :)

my main Problem is to get the Solid Fuel ''Pills'' so many Fuels and then theres all the Uranium Types and Oxidized ones.. before getting the right Type togeter in a Recipe i Looked it up 100 times to get the right type that is needed. If there would be a Block or Machine where you can Tell what Fuell you need and it grabbs itself from say a Chest above or so.. and gives out exactly the Fuel (say u-235) this would make my life easyer oh and the Radioaktive Ghoul Skins and behavior is not fitting the Mod. It looks like a Fun Mod not like something from a great Tech mod. Maybe some other modder that is god at modding Mobs should try to make it a bit nicer and more scary

Once you work out how to make fuels, the pattern is relatiely simple - you make the fuel out of its isotopes, then combine with oxygen, nitrogen or zirconium. Alternatively you can make the oxides, nitrides or zirconium alloys first, then combine them into the fuels :) If you want to remove the ghouls, you can do so in the configs.
