This comment has a few important details, so I recommend hitting the "Read more" button and seeing it all :) *1. This design now needs to be modified in light of recent heat sink cooling rate and placement rule changes! The new design is here:* *Design NCPF:* drive.google.com/file/d/1C0JMXwc4AoHEEIIKyMDgEwTzV9BKEuX9 *Design PNG:* drive.google.com/file/d/1KnDJ_PpmucyIQVoFXjDWcwECn6n8IGZB *2. Vents now have two modes: input and auto-output! They will be in input mode when first placed, and will not output steam unless switched to auto-output mode. To switch from one mode to the other, right click with an NC multitool.* 3. Something I didn’t really go over was that sparsity multiplier - it is another multiplier that effects the overall production efficiency which kicks in if the reactor is too empty. More precisely, if less than 75% of the block spaces of the reactor interior is taken up by ‘useful’ components (be they moderators, functional cells, valid heat sinks, neutron reflectors, or whatever), there will be a penalty. By default, the maximum penalty is 50%, when the reactor has no useful components at all (hence why the multiplier is 50% at the start). 4. Also notice that, before I fixed the iron sinks not being connected to the conducting clusters, the GUI was showing that there were two clusters at 27:04 - that's because the cluster containing the six cells on the left was totally disconnected from the cluster containing the six on the right. Although in this case the corrected design is single-clustered, you could make use of fragmented clustering to localise any potential damage from meltdowns ;)

@@artemiybelov7050 The radiation/fallout decay rate can be modified in the configs. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "isotope decay rate", but if you mean the radiation levels of the isotopes, the levels are all the inverse of the real half-lives in years. The system is inspired by Fallout more than real life, hence the use of rads as the unit ;) I probably won't add different leaf and log types, mainly because there are lots of other things that need doing, but that could be done in an addon or via CraftTweaker. I make modpacks to play with friends, and my previous one had Extreme Reactors instead of NuclearCraft (since I didn't know this existed at that point). Since they're so easy to make, everyone made their own in their own bases, which was kinda boring, really. I've added NuclearCraft to my new modpack instead of Extreme Reactors, and since no-one knows how to do this (and nobody wants radiation in their base) we've all united together to build a sort of public reactor that we'll all draw power from, and we're all working together to build it. Looks really good, I am looking forward to seeing the overhaul finished. I just have two questions, when the turbine was displaying the 17,150 rf/t, the text you added in post said it was actually 4316. Was that because you were running the turbine at just over 400% (~397%) due to backlog of steam, or was that a config setting during that build of the overhaul? The second question is what hotbar swapping mod is that? I generally prefer multi-hotbar, but it has conflicts with a lot of huds in the current pack I am making atm.(geiger counter, and Adv Rocketry are the two biggest issues that multi-hotbar conflicts with). Thanks in advance
@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, the 17 kRF/t was only temporary and due to a small backlog - the turbine's capacity was 1200 mB/t, while the reactor's steady-state steam production rate is 300 mB/t. I'm pretty sure the hotbar-switching mod is Quark :)

Am I wrong in thinking that 4316 rf/t is kind of low power output for what you've made here? I have a suggestion/request: a block that can be placed inside of a reactor which will craft neutron irradiation recipes of items placed inside - ideally with CraftTweaker support. As a modpack developer I can certainly see myself getting some good use out of custom neutron irradiation recipes that require a running reactor (perhaps even one purpose-built for neutron irradiation), and I am sure other developers would also appreciate such a feature. Also, will there be any kind of control rods, to shut down a reactor in an emergency (in exchange for some detriment perhaps)?

I recently downloaded this version on a server of me and my friends. I had a design ready to go and I didn't see any errors on the planner. That's not all though. When I build it block by block, and also give neutrons to cells (I checked what cells to send neutrons and only sent to them) controller UI reports there nor being any clusters even though they show up in the planner. I couldn't fix it so I also checked the fuel cells by tping myself in. They only say "No cluster!" they accept fuel. I inserted water and also fuel pellets. There are enough ports for output. And another thing that might be useful in this case, I have neutron shields in the build (they are also properly linked)

Hey, the design for the heat sink layout link is no longer available. Also what mod did you use for the pipes? I used BuildCraft's fluid pipes, they connect but I don't see any cooling so at the first test my reactor overheated and melted half of my fuel cells. Edit: I also don't know how to connect it to a battery as all the cables I tried did not work. Edit 2: Also on v2o.7.7 Edit 3 (yes): It shows no clusters.
@NuclearCraftModАй бұрын
I usually use Thermal Dynamics' super-laminar fluiducts as they have a pretty high fluid transfer rate... it's possible that BC's pipes were just a bit too slow. In case you were trying to output power from somewhere else, the dynamo coils are where you should hook cables/batteries up to extract the energy. As for no clusters, that will always be shown before the reactor is activated as I haven't added the stat prediction to the controller GUI yet. I'll also fix the links!

@tenebre55124 жыл бұрын
I have to say, I love nuclearcraft and the work you are putting in is impressive, but this overhaul seems extremely complicated, extremely expensive, and extremely punishing. To setup even this example, which you claim is the simplest possible reactor, you have to at least understand neutron flux mechanics, cooling mechanics, rotor mechanics, and coil mechanics, not to mention how to optimize for each of those factors. As you pointed out, many people already resort to using simple or pre-made reactor designs, and while I understand that this sort of mod is more for enthusiasts than general gameplay and I like that, I'm not sure what the point is of increasing the barrier to entry even further.
@NuclearCraftMod4 жыл бұрын
I was just coming to the end of finishing a really long response, but YT's flimsy notification tab deleted the whole thing when I accidentally pressed some key... In short, the reasons that I changed the reactor mechanics are outlined here: www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/deugu7/nuclearcraft_overhauled_is_in_alpha_1122/f301mnh? Costs of parts can easily be tweaked if need be, and as for the potential entry barrier or increased difficulty of the new system, most people who have spent time with it have not found it to be anywhere near as difficult as they first thought (many originally had similar worries to you!). Some of those reasons are outlined in the link above :) The turbine coil system is basically a simplified placement puzzle, and the coil is the same as it was before. Yes, it is tricky, but something like Kurtchekov's turbine calculator can be used to solve that puzzle perfectly if wanted. Do also keep in mind that although I used the simplest fuel and the simplest sinks, that was not exactly the simplest design - it was actually a rather decent, high efficiency one. The aim of the placement puzzle is to reward good designing with high efficiencies, and as before, if you don't want to try solving it (although of course I recommend giving it a go!), you can use someone else's design.

3x3x3 is very small, yeh, just because you can only fit moderator lines of length 1 between cells. hello i have two questions, i have followed this video and i cant seem to get the water in the reactor and the heat keeps going up so i dont know and also i cant extract the steam out of the reactor into the turbine. can you please tell me what is the issue?

There have been some changes since this video - the ports and vents have two modes. By default, they are in input mode, and right-clicking on them with a multitool will switch it to output mode.

Probably a combination of these videos not being monetised, not being flagrantly unfair use, and being a remix of the original. Usually if KZbin flags up a video of this sort of popularity, you just can't monetise it and that's the end of the story.

I wanted to know if, like molten salt reactors need heat exchangers, someday they will also serve solid fuel reactors.
