Thanks a lot for this video. I recently picked up this bike and bought the same crash bars. Your way of installing helped me a lot!

Thanks so much! That was very helpful! I am impressed with your leg cast scooter/motorycycle skills as well! ;) I hope you're all healed up now!

Great Video, I just installed them on my F750GS using the lazy approach and it worked even with bigger hands. BTW there is no need to get a longer bolt the kit comes with an M8 65mm and an M8 35mm long which work out of the box, the short M8 25mm bolt is used for the F850GS

Geeze! You move that bike around with one leg?! I love it! I am looking into finally getting crash bars put on my bike. I want to practice parking lot skills. I don't feel comfortable on my bike just yet. I moved up from the 310 late last year. it's been a slow start to spring here in Ontario. I've been out a few times but just short regular rides. I want to practice moving my bike around and picking it up.

I also need constant/more practice myself! After my surgery I barely ride. And I notice the drop in skills 😭

Great video. I just ordered a 1250GS and planned on using the Hepco guard but will look at Touratech. Thanks!
@TrackOurJourney3 жыл бұрын
I had the hepco bars prior to this one. The Touratech is thicker. I didn't weigh them so I am not sure which is lighter.

Amazing job👍👍👍. I see why it helps to get small hands. The touratech looks really good.😀

Good video Pam. I have the Outback motortek ones on my 850. Very pleased with them and the one time I have dropped the bike (so far 😎) they have done their job. Just the bash plate to order next. I also just fitted a small 5litre toolbox behind the left pannier rack.... £20 from Ali express 👍🇬🇧

Outback Motortek is awesome! I saw that video they did where they dragged the bike and it was fine.

Nice one, you're doing an amazing job with your leg in a cast, well done... I found the Touratech crash bars to be rock solid on the F800GSA, after many drops they are still straight and symmetrical, I'm sure you'll find the same toughness (but not by dropping your bike I hope). I just ordered some 6L Mini Bags from Lone Rider to attach to either side of my tank bars, hopefully they arrive sometime in 2021... 😎👍
@TrackOurJourney3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That's great to hear as these bikes seems to be attracted to falling over haha jk. What do you plan to put in those 5L bags? because when the bike drops it will hit it first? So maybe just clothes? I have always wondered about that! haha.

@@TrackOurJourney I was thinking of putting some heavier things upfront like tools, tubes, etc, something that can take a bit of a hit....

after all that, I think I will be going with the SW-Motech brand lol

that is also a good brand

Hello, is there still space to refill coolant when bar is installed ? Thanks.
@TrackOurJourney3 жыл бұрын
I think so iirc. I did it on my coolant video under the 850gsa maintenance playlist. and I think iirc, I didn't take out the crash bars to do it.

I'm thinking about swapping my bars also and have considered the Touratech also. What happened to the Hepco bars you had previously installed?
@TrackOurJourney3 жыл бұрын
I hit a deer and the bar didn't survive although it saved my bike. So it did its job. But now I also want to try a different brand since it's same price.
@bsalvis3 жыл бұрын
@@TrackOurJourney I must have missed that part about the deer. I hope all is well. Currently I have the SW-Motech bars which are fine, but not sure how well they will perform since it's a one piece setup and I really don't intend to test them. There were some very small changes to the exhaust for the '21 model and some of the bars no longer fit. This was really the main reason I went with them because they don't interfere with the forward O2 sensor. Once Touratech have an official '21 product available I may swap them.

Why did your replace the Hepco and Becker crash protection?

I hit a deer and it did its job but it was badly bent.

@@TrackOurJourney hi Pam, do you find the Touratechs better quality? They are so pricey compared to the competition!
@TrackOurJourney3 жыл бұрын
Touratech steel was way beefier/ thicker than the hepco & becker. Looks like it's way more durable.
