So lets consider a sequence by chance that is something like ...GAATTG... and the complement would be ...CAATTC... it then seems possible to have two adjacent thiamine dimers on opposite sides of the ladder. Can the excision repair mechanism handle such a problem?

@@animatedbiologywitharpan that is what I was thinking. I guess that cell then potentiallyis permanently damaged or even cancerous depending on where the damage is...or goes through apoptosis. Thanks!
