In this video I took my 80 year old Grandfather out metal detecting in hopes of finding treasure. We searched several old sites with our metal detectors, and were able to recover some awesome finds!

About Nugget Noggin:
Hey! I'm Michael, I love to get outdoors and discover awesome things
with my metal detector. I started treasure hunting when I was 12 years
old and shortly after received my first metal detector. Since then, I've
been hooked and just love going out to search for the unknown. You
may see me in the woods crawling under an old house or diving down
in the river to search for rings. Wherever the adventure brings us, I'll try
my best to keep you entertained.

When you get back in from detecting, sit your Grandpa down at the kitchen table, pull out your portable tape recorder, and ask him to tell you about his growing up days. What does he remember about his parents and grandparents. I wish I had.

anon y mouse, I actually have a recording of my dads grand parents from probably the 70’s. I’m not sure who taped them but it is one of my favorite things from them. My dad was one of 5 kids and so they had lots to take about. I have 7 grandkids and I am making journals for each of them. I think one day they will really treasure them.

Kiddo you are so blessed to have a grandfather like him. I know I didn't have to tell you that. My grandfather was my world. He taught me everything I know about fishing which isn't much. But that was how much he knew. LOL. But he taught me how to be a handy man and make money at it. I taught me how to work hard and take pride in my work. The last real memory I have of him was when I received Ordination license to preach the gospel. He was so proud of me. I was following in his foot steps. Both of my grandfathers were preachers. But only one Grandfather ever took time to do things with me. My other grandfather was to busy being a preacher to spend any time with any of his grandkids. When and if he talked to us it was telling us how we must live if we wanted to get into heaven. But that's why God gave me two grandfathers... One grandfather to teach me how to read, love, and honor Gods word. The other grandfather to teach me how to live God's word... Now I said all that to say Grandfathers are great to have. BUT if you got a Grandpa then you have a friend for life to love you to hold you and to tell your secrets to.... I bet it was your Grandpa that took you metal detecting for the first time and taught you to love it. It shows in your early videos that you have a love for detecting. It sure has taken you a long ways in your life. God sure has blessed the fruits of your labors... Be blessed kiddo... BBE..

I went snorkeling and exploring today at the Salmon River in Colchester Connecticut with my nephew Landon. Partially inspired by my neighbor, who got me into bottle digging as a teenager. I went on several bottle digs because I saw his beautiful collection. I picked a few sites out after going to the local library and studying historical maps of my town. I dug up ink bottles, medicine bottles, milk bottles, cobalt blue beautiful potion bottles and all because of him. He passed away last year from complications due to having the Covid19 virus. He was in intensive care on a ventilator for 3 weeks before Christmas of 2021, and died on the 28th. People sometimes come into your life and teach you and inspire you. He was that guy. So are you. I've been periodically watching your videos for 6 years or more. About a year before my good friends' death I was asking him advice on metal detecting equipment and locations. Watching your explorations brings me such joy I cannot convey SIr. You are a wonderful human being and a good soul. I suffer from mental illness, depression, OCD and PTSD. It is so great to have you in my life and I mean that. You are the best. Happy Adventures. You are a spirit and a world all of your own. Don't change for one second brother.

As a grand and great grand myself, I can tell you that it was, at least, 10 times more special to him. As our children and grandchildren get older there is a whole lot less time to spend with family, especially with us old folks, and we really do miss those moments. God bless you and him. Learn everything you can from him while you can. Oh how I could feel if I could know more of the things my father and grandfathers eyes have seen. HH my friend.
