Lol who ever said you can go a few over is a lie in itself. What would be the point of having a posted speed limit sign? 70mph +6 if you want.

Utah should do what most states does and have a criminal speeding limit. 31 over and you get a pair of bracelets.

When I lived in Germany, 100+ mph was normal on the Autobahns (when traffic congestion levels permitted). Even back then, when congestion levels increased, the Unlimited could be reduced to 110, 100, 80 or even 60 KPH for safety. Anymore, it is very rare to have the Unlimited signage displayed. Utah isn't Germany. The roads aren't designed for it; the cars aren't maintained for it; the drivers are certainly not trained for driving those speeds or, driving safely at lower speeds with other driving at the higher speeds and NEVER WILL BE. Utah needs a criminal speed law like they have in AZ (and other states probably, I just know AZ has one). 85 mph = Criminal Speed 20 mph over the posted limit = Criminal Speed 15 over in a school zone = Criminal Speed

Fines and bs charges won't do it. Jail time and confiscation of their car, might. Better education when learning how to drive. But sadly non of these will stop it from happening. Everyone is in a rush to get somewhere, they don't care about anyone else except themselves.

Fines and "talking sessions" about being good drivers will not help these arrogant assholes. Jail time needs to happen. Time to not have a job, time to not drive a car, time to not go to their supportive cult church (if applicable), time to inconvenience their families, time to see all the other losers in there, and a real public record of their actions. Attempted murder with a deadly weapon: make it real. It is not a "right" to drive - it is a licensed, organized privilege.

The 201 is the worst. Glad to hear something is being done. Really appreciate it, thank you UHP, and KSL Utah roads need you now more than ever. As a truck driver who uses these roads every day, the feeling something might happen and I might not make it home gets worse every day. This helps with that. Thank you, and I'll be doing my part to try and stay calm and not engage with these drivers myself, I'm not perfect either.

There are wide open spaces in Utah. Why not? Peoples republic of California. I 10 when you cross the border. Wide open for so many miles!. It's a drag! Especially doing it in a Semi! Montana the last I knew gave you a ticket if pulled over for fuel consumption or a very small fine. wide open spaces! If your not going through a city, Town, twisty curvy mountain sections Who cares? Like Sammy Hagar's song. cant drive 55. It's more like 75 now! Lol.

There is nothing wrong with driving 100mph, if people would follow cruise in the right pass on the left this wouldn't be an issue. German autobahn has proven this time and time again. If Americans weren't competitive idiots on the roadways preventing people from passing them, "speeding" wouldn't be an issue. Speeding on highways is typically only fatal when others don't follow basic traffic rules like stated above.
@Jacob-wd2pn2 жыл бұрын
report from 2019 noted that “The number of deadly accidents on stretches of autobahn that have a speed limit is 26 percent lower than on those without. In 2017, 409 people died on the autobahn and in almost half the cases, the reason was inappropriate speeding, according to the German statistics office.”Oct 13, 2022 The left lane still has to go the speed limit. No one is cutting you off by going the speed limit. You can claim its an incompetent American driver. But a 26% decrease in fatalities is only a marginal difference. I wouldn't say that's worth allowing a speed limit ban in the left lane. People will still switch lanes at high speeds so they can get home for their lunch break.
@Goodkidjr432 жыл бұрын
@@Jacob-wd2pn Captain obvious here: Why is the autobahn STILL HAVE unlimited speed limit?...... Also, If you reduce speed to 10 miles an hour, then NOBODY would die......

American Drivers aren't trained like the Germans are. Lane discipline, control at speed, time with a qualified instructor etc. It isn't the roads, its the I.D.10.T's. Driving 100mph plus, therefore, makes the the speeder the idiot too.

Wow! 6300 over 100 MPH in one year! On a lot of cars the engine will not be quiet when going 100 mph. Wind noise will also be quite audible from the interior. Fuel economy will be horrible. Not sure what the appeal is to go that fast. You don't arrive that much faster because there are other cars on the road to go around.
