Walkaround with Barrett Jackson Host Steve Magnante! Watch until the end for cold start!
Full 200 photo gallery and additional info: www.highoctane...
Absolutely meticulous 1967 Chevelle SS 396 with a numbers matching 396ci L34 V8 and 4 Speed Manual transmission. This car was produced at GM's Baltimore Maryland facility, and underwent refurbisment in 1997, which included body repairs, repaint, chassis refinishing, and rebuild of the engine. Equipment includes an electronic ignition, an aftermarket CD player, a center console, and bucket seats.
SS-specific trim includes a blacked-out grille, a unique hood with faux twin scoops, 396 badging on the front fenders, SS396 emblems on the grille and rear cove, Super Sport script on the rear quarter panels, and ribbed rocker-panel moldings.
Body-color 14″ steel wheels are accented by SS-branded wheel covers and mounted with reproduction Goodyear Polyglas red-stripe tires. A spare is stored in the trunk.
Interior finishes include black vinyl upholstery (763) over the bucket seats and rear bench, which are complemented by matching door panels and trim. The center console houses a clock positioned ahead of the shifter, and a Jensen CD player is mounted inside the glovebox.
Service completed in the past two years included installation of a Pertronix ignition system and replacement of the radiator, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, and ignition wires. A fuel supply line to the carburetor is said to require replacement.
The engine’s stamping pad includes the sequence 7B175829, which matches the last eight digits of the vehicle’s serial number. The EF suffix code corresponds with a 396ci L34 V8 engine rated for 350 horsepower and paired with a manual transmission and a heavy-duty clutch. Power is routed through a four-speed manual transmission linked to a 12-bolt rear axle.
Exceptional fit and finish on this car; every panel is straight. Doors operate like new. The silky smooth paint is in perfect condition. Clean underside with no rust. Showroom condition.

Yeah Steve, for me the '66 and '67 Chevelle SS 396 was the coolest look. That 2 year clean and crisp body style with the 396 was always the favorite of mine.

A friend of mine has a '67 SS 396 4-speed in the deep red color with black interior, all original, numbers matching, original paint, amazing car in great shape. He and his uncle went in together and bought it in the early '90s when they weren't a godzillion dollars. I'm sickeningly jealous.

My first new car was a 1967 Chevelle, Marina Blue with a blue interior and bucket seats. I just had the 327.. but it moved it along nicely! This video sure brings back a lot of good memories! Thanks

I ordered a 67 supersport with the 350 horse engine, 4 speed and bench seats. also power steering and brakes as well as air conditioning. there was an option of a under dash 8 track player which I also ordered. Traded it in in 1975 to buy a new car for my wife and i still kick myself in the ass for doing so. It was sure a fun car.

For it being a GTO killer is definitely one of the reasons the Chevelle is definitely considered the king of the muscle cars.

Good morning Steve , I must say because of my age (72) that put me in the age bracket to enjoy just about all of the factory muscle , not only did I have a plethora of them but my friends also owned and raced them. I think coming from the Pittsburgh area helped , many drag strips . The one vehicle I don't remember first hand was the 67 , 350 HP holly moter SS 396. Thanks

My family had 1966 Malibu SS (283, Powerglide) new in 1966 right up until we kids left home in the early 1980s. My brother and I "took over" the Chevelle when we reached driving age and had fun with typical period mods including a built 350 swap, reverse manual valve-bodied 'Glide, 3800-stall converter. Of course, we didn't upgrade the drum brakes or suspension in those days. I prefer the '66 body (front and rear) to the '67 but love that tunnel-back backlight and C-pillar treatment on those cars to this day.

The 67 Chevelle "blinker tach" was a 67 year ONLY "option", meaning that the blinker tach COULD BE ordered with ANY of the 1967 Chevelle factory Super Sport B.B. cars and OR ANY of the 67 NON Super Sport/B.B. regular Malibus, and or El Caminos actually as well. Sometimes, when the 327 4 spd (in particularly) Malibu was ordered for example? Certain owners might have added the tach (especially with higher HP 327 motors etc. Also known as? The Big Block Killers 😏👍)

So, what are the ethics of claiming a car to be "numbers matching"? Is it ok to throw that term around just because the block has the correct suffix code? I was always under the impression the block would also need the correct vin stamping on the deck to use the term numbers matching.

Question? Were all SS's also Malibu's, or can it be a Chevelle SS without it being also a Malibu. It appears there is no Malibu designation on this car, so if I'm thinking right this is a Chevelle SS and not a Malibu SS, right or wrong? Thanks Steve, love your video's.

Had manual drum brakes on my 74 duster... it had power steering too as a matter of fact but anyway those brakes worked great had good pedal modulation no problems stopping a slant 6 car. One time I was in heavy rain and a deep puddle made the brakes useless so I used the stop sign to stop the car while having my foot planted on the brake to no avail.... knocked over the sign a bit but the car stopped. So ya wet drum brakes are no brakes...otherwise great street stuff.

come on man, everything is NOT as it should be. Under surface of the hood should not be car color. Grill extensions and headlight bezels are not blacked out correctly. bottom seat trim should not be chrome plated plastic, it should be interior color matching. Exhaust pipes come too far to the rear, so they are not correct as well. Trunk is missing jacking instructions and if equipped, limited slip differential warning label

That is not worth no $100k nope just is not !! Drum break car, only a 350 hp car. you could build one out of parts book Cheeper starting with a frame. 50k maybe ? I think somebody paid way to much for a paint job and trying to get their money back out of it . paint jobs can suck your wallet down a hole these days if you don't do your home work and be cautious of who you use do it !! This is a car you want to drive daily not have for conversation prop in your holdings or living room lol. Yeah one would have to be plum stupid to pay that much for it even if its fresh 100% zero mile car . they made 63 k ss396 there are lots of them out there still . hell you can get a hemi road runner Cheeper than that .
