Yea respect to Nuno, well done, that’s how to apologize, and most people have no idea how to do that. Usually, an apology is crafted as a half assed admission of some guilt while still trying to reinforce the original offensive comment, or adding even more stupid shit, not here, just hey I fucked up, it happens, and I’m sorry, I’ll try to do better in the future. If anyone has a problem with an apology of that sort, they just want to be offended and aren’t really interested in clearing the air.

Fortis may be a great guitarist but I don’t think he suites the GnR vibe or compliments Slash’s playing the way Izzy did. If Fortis had been someone in line to replace Izzy back in the day it would have been a hard no, the same way it was a hard no for Zakk Wylde when Gilby was kicked out.

I basically don't agree with any of you that it was cool for Nuno to apologize. He made the point that some of the greats can't be anything else than who they already are. EVH used to say that about himself, even when Van Halen played a lot of covers in the early days. Ridiculous to try to force the man to apologize when Slash wasn't hurt by that statement and probably agreed. If any rock guitarist would be hurt then that just sounds like fragile ego. Nuno wasn't cutting Slash down he was having a laugh about his own capabilities and putting them in the same camp, which he should. Everyone is such a white night, it was just a passing comment

I mean he doesn't want to change his style or add something new...So slash's wouldn't even try to play the rhianna thing... They're all good in their own style. They are so different you can't reallt compare them. I only like o n e song by Extreme, their famous hit. But I li k e many by Axl Rose and Guns and Roses. Slash is a brilliant guitarist who could play anything for any singer, if he wanted to. I have heard him play quieter guitar and he is brilliant at it. He could accompany her or other singers. Question is: would he want to? Switching genres is hard and rarely works, no matter how good you are. Fans associate you with their favourite genre and feel disgusted, betrayed, if you stray into other genres they either hate or hate are bored by. Just stick to the style and image that made you famous but you can go back to its earlier roots and revamp these. And that can sound good, new, exciting. For instance, Led Zeppelin' great song 'When The Levee Breaks' is a heavy rock version of an old American song.

I love Nuno, but he did one thing, a long time ago that still makes me mad at him. When George Lynch was on top of the world, just totally killing it, Nuno said, in an interview, that George was brain dead and basically sucked. I am a Slash fan who has also seen you play. I think your playing shows much talent. Slash, while by accident or planned, writes and picks riffs people like to see and hear and he chose to be with one the best frontman for his first big band in his era. Minor Pentatonic blah blah blah he is fn cool as shit. This might be a little harsh, but Slash has been a punching bag of Extremely jealous theory monsters for years. For many of the theory monsters, it is free press because people like to read about Slash and like his quiet personality in interviews. And while Fortus is not an original member, that guy has some crazy playing talent...talent you might actually enjoy. Slash constantly pushes back if people say he is the best. He is pretty humble and shy about the talents he has developed always giving props to his influences. There is no best.

I love Slash. He is a guitar legend and Use Your Illusions 1&2 will forever be an IMMORTAL masterpiece BUUUUT.... he can not play the fucking guitar. He is NEVER on time, his bends are ALWAYS outa tune. He is toutured almost every song he played live and he is worse live player now then he even was when he played on heroin. So stop. And NO He could not play Rihanna gig. live Rihanna shows often feature reworked versions of her studio material where they let her band(and they hire some REAL mothefucking virtuoso players) go wild. They "Prince" her songs up to the point where you need to have pretty serious technical ability to keep up and Slash has none of it. Actually Fortus can handle propper perfomance, he is pretty spot on when it comes to guitar playing

I tried to get into buckhead but just can’t . I do enjoy watching him play as I do most every guitar player I see live . BH seems to have really good technical skills and knows his way around the guitar but in my opinion he could not come close to writing many of the riffs Slash has written in guns , velvet revolver , snake pit and now with miles Kennedy . I don’t believe that BH songs are recognized by a lot of people . To a guitar player they’re cool but to you everyday person he just doesn’t capture the feelings slash can achieve through the guitar . Kind of like a sports car . You could have the huge engine in the car that can go in a straight line super fast but then the curves come or the bumps in the road and bad weather and you realize straight line speed is not everything .

You put slash in a song you’ll know it’s slash (not least because of his restricted skill on anything outside of the pentatonic scale), you put a session player on a record and they will play what is needed, though there will be less artistic flair, though that’s the idea.

Sure Nuno has a talent at playing fast, but he isn't good as Slash who has written pretty unforgettable riffs and solos which comprises of insanely soulful melodies. It might be easier for nuno to play slash stuff, but he never can play it with soul and slash is a world star who's played with so many brilliant artists including Michael Jackson, BB King, Aerosmith, etc. Also, Ik it's irrelavent to say that but Rihanna is a shitty overrated artist so it doesn't matter if slash can play for her or not. He's already made much money unlike nuno who is busy insulting other legends, but I respect him for apologizing.

Wow nuno is a legend but he got kinda reactive although fortus didnt get nuno's point. he made the point poorly and to see him humble himself not for us but mainly to richard fucking warmed my heart bro. nuno was married to suze demarchi an absolute AUS rock legend so i still have a deep affinity for him although i didnt know he played for riri. imagine every style and sound required depending on the studio prodn and appropriation of styles. though. guns sorta do a bit of everything though its still rock anyway nice story
