My son and I saw extreme a few years back in Newcastle England. The gig ended and most people left,,..we noticed people hanging back so we did too. The entire band came back out , went into the pit and shook hands, said hello and basically spent ages having their photo taken with everyone there.. it was absolutely wonderful and I've never seen another band of their stature do such a thing. Wonderful people.

I saw Living Colour doing the same thing. I am from Spain. After the best show I have seen in my life. And they were absolute nice and humble guys. I could not believe what I was seeing. You have to support that kind of truly musicians that at the same time are so respectful to their fans.

They did that too during the se asia tour a few years ago. I mean the band didn’t have to do it and it wouldn’t hurt as most of other bands just bow and leave but this shows how they really appreciate their fans.

Nuno will never see this, but, I have a similar story, which can back up what he just said about the kissing and the paying attention to things around him. I had made virtual friends with Valerie through a Van Halen fan group online way back in the mid to late 90's. I live in Japan. When VH came to Japan on that tour in 1998 I was given all access passes via their tour manager at the time, Scotty Ross, he was also in the group. On the first day at the Budokan in Tokyo I was standing backstage watching the people working and I was trying to stay out of the way. The curtain opened and God himself walked in. He was no less than 30 feet from me. Someone pointed me out, he came over, bear hugged me, kissed me on the cheek and said "That's from the old lady". I was stunned to say the least. At the end of the tour I gave him a lighter, sorry that I contributed to your cancer, Ed, Ed collected lighters and this one was really cool. It had this thing you unscrewed, pulled out, struck like a match, then put back, and it had a belt clip thingy on it. A few weeks after the tour was over I got a call in the middle of the night and it was Valerie. I'm stunned again. Anyway, while we're talking I heard the man walk in the room. He said "Who you talking to, Hon?" and she said "I'm talking to MULLY in Japan". I said to her "Tell him I'm the one that gave him the lighter in Yokohama". She did, and he said "Yeah, I know who he is". Holy Crap!!! FWIW, she told me that he had the lighter hanging on his belt when he came home......I never told her it could be hung on the belt loop. The dude was actually using the lighter I gave him. For anyone that doesn't believe this story, what more proof do I need? Rest In Peace, Eddie!! The world seems worse without you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ7Gg4J4j5yVhM0

David Bruce Paul Gilbert has dedicated a song to eddie van halen called "3 Es for Edward". He said he has heard things in eddies studio that blew half his hearing but was worth it. In the dedication text for this song for eddie, he wrote something like he saw visions of courage (or something) regarding eddies music. I wouldnt discount eddie's talent, just coz hes not as technical as todays players like nuno (not taking away from nuno). If paul gilbert says that about eddie, i believe it. www.vhnd.com/2008/08/25/paul-gilberts-tribute-to-eddie-van-halen/

Both put their own, iconic guitars together. Both sing and play piano/keyboards. Both set-up on stage left. Both played on Jackson hits (Eddie on Beat it by Michael and Nuno on Black Cat by Janet) Both shared the same Frontman/Lead singer in Gary Cherone.

That's a great story. Boggles my mind when people don't recognize the magnificence and impact Eddie Van Halen had. When guys like Nuno, superstars in their own right, wax reverential like this, it should be a perspective-shaper for the 'ignorant.'
@stricknine86234 жыл бұрын
There is nothing "ignorant" about liking or disliking something that is completely, 100% subjective such as someone's music. And you can go on and on about how Eddie changed this or that or he set new standards. It is null and void to those that dont like his music. It's not objective. It isn't an objective fact that certain music is good or bad. Its opinion based. You get to create your own reality, not everyone else's reality (opinion) "Water is wet" is an objective fact and anyone who disagrees, they are indeed, ignorant. Conversely,..your peddling the idea that certain music or a certain musician is great and anyone who disagrees is ignorant only confirms your own ignorance and not those you accused. I agree with you that Eddie was phenomenal. But people who may dislike Eddie or Van Halen are not "ignorant" Making the claim that they are, IS.
