I would wager it has more to do with the soft neutral backdrop, a relaxed, diffused light source, and the exposure being perfectly balanced than the actual camera selection. While anyone can turn a fancy camera on and point it at themselves, the real craft is composing the set and subject in a way that does justice to the technology and engineering that lies behind the lens.
