Actually it started as a military doctrine to capture land and it has been very successful. They won wars starting from 627 AD. Later when they realised that it is not easy to control people with different religions in the captured land they offered the same military doctrine as religion. It was like a citizenship in those times. They rulers believe in one Caliphate hence the Qibla is made to point to one place. Thus the loyalty of the people is to one place, one Caliph. Thus when people with that religion are under another ruler, who is not a Muslim, the religion acts like a Trojan Horse which can be activated by anyone to rise against the ruler

It explains the views on women. They were capturing them and using them as cattle to reproduce as fast as possible. In places where it was unthinkable for a woman to join the fight or commit suicide it worked. But because it's made for fast conquest and not long term development of the society, the islamic world collapsed in few centuries and survived in a 'living dead' state to this day. The youth seems to be quitting so maybe it will change and something new will emerge.

I have a friend from Pakistan who "recites" the Quran in Arabic, a language she does not know. When I quote certain "problematic" verses from the Quran (in English), she does not want to hear it and starts arguing with me. She has her own interpretation of Islam and is a good person, but blocks out (and usually is not aware) of all the terrible and discriminatory teachings in the Quran, hadiths, and Sharia.

You can only argue with someone about something so much & like a bratty kid they'll just start blocking you out when it comes to the topic, having a visual aide at her fingertips will likely entice/encourage her to look into things even more & hopefully click for her "dang it they're right it does say that"

I’m from Iran and I married a young man raised in a traditional Muslim family. He didn’t care about the Islamic rules at first but he started to show tendency to follow all the rules as far as we got serious in marriage. I loved him so much that I decided to listen to his values. It was easier at first but after we got married he started to control me in every step that I took. He was suddenly changed I was completely under his control now. I had turned into a sinful woman that my every single action was wrong. I felt dumb, useless, sinful or the cause of all sins and it wasn’t what I expected from life. I was really thirsty of hearing something good about myself but there was none. Until we integrated to the United States in where finally I feel so much easier. I see myself more worthy but I have lost most of my years which could have been so much brighter. I am from Iran and I’m talking about 20 years before when I got married. I’m sure there are still so many men who think their wives are worthless if they don’t follow their Islamic rules. It changed my mind about Islam for ever.

It sounds like your experience could be seen as manipulative. Feeling controlled and made to feel ‘stupid, silly, and sinful’ suggests that your husband’s newfound religious beliefs were imposed on you in a way that diminished your autonomy and self-worth. When the other person in this comment section dismissed your experience and reframed it as you ‘misunderstanding’ your husband, it seems like they invalidated your feelings and shifted the blame onto you. This kind of dismissal and reframing can be a form of emotional manipulation or even gaslighting. It minimizes your experience and might make you question your own perceptions. Watch out for people in the comment section like that, they are evil

As an ex-Christian I"ve watched a lot of 'leaving Christianity' vids. That experience is nothing like what you guys have to go through to leave Islam, especially women. You're all very brave souls, and the horror stories are jaw-dropping. I'm sick and tired of priviledged westerners giving Islam a free pass, or hiding behind the insipid comment "all religions are bad". More people need to see your videos and interviews, Nuriyah. Here's an anecdote: I once asked my local library (in the U.S.) to purchase Ibn Warraq's book, "Why I Am Not A Muslim". This book, written along the lines of Bertrand Russell's "Why I Am Not a Christian", was a real eye-opener for me. The library complied with my request and bought the book - but then hid it on a back shelf, not displaying on the stand where newly acquired books are displayed. This is a subtle form of censorship, which the library has done with other purchases I've requested. Obviously the library didn't want anyone to know about Warraq's book (though they would have not trouble displaying "Why I Am Not a Christian"). Possibly they didn't want any trouble from the very small local Muslim community; whatever. Apologies for going on so long here. You are doing wonderful work, Nuriyah, and I'm happy to support it. Thank you.

I hear it over and over again. So many ex-Muslims say that they became ex-muslims when they read the Quran in their own language. You only have to educate yourself with free translations available online. I would recommend Nuriyah read further due to her comment about Islam ending slavery..... neither Muhammad nor later Islam, ended slavery.... it continues to this day, and it is justified in the Quran....
@beatdownyt
@beatdownyt 5 ай бұрын
you better be an aethist if youre complaining about slavery. Christianity enforces slavery, while islam provided means for it to be reduced. Slaves relied on their masters for a living, you cant simply abolish it wholesale, which is why islam slowly but surely reduced it, and certainly from the moment islam became prominent slaves were treated far better and as equals. Your western perception of slavery is not one that is representative of islamic slavery.

@@lib25 I'll give you the same advice that I gave Nuriyah. You cannot learn Islam listening to imams or mullahs. You must read the Quran and Hadith to see it's true evils.... Howsoever I have spent my childhood in Dubai and I remember that a divorced Emirati lady got all her 4 children and she started raising her 4 kids as a single mom so shocked to hear that if the courts listened to her why didn't they listen to you! Moreover your fashion sense is quite funny Nuriyah Ma'am, what is that lock doing as a necklace? Is it Allah-Taala with Khuda Chaabi, or you are trying to symbolise the voices of women being crushed by that symbol or totem? also the tattoo near your wrist does it say 'Haseen' or 'Hussein'?

When people talk about reconciling science and religion, that is only an issue with people who have preconceived ideas, but scientists cannot/should-not have preconce ived ideas they must believe the evidence. All scientific models must conform to NATURE or REALITY, If there is any tiny evidence for some unnatural forces then they must include that in their paper and account for it. originally from Karachi Pakistan and Teer Haripur Hazaara, now ex-Muslim Atheist . Many people who convert to Islam or revert back to Christianity is because religious organizations provide a sense of community, comradely, fellowship and a sense of belonging. These powerful emotional needs are fulfilled, even if religions are not historically and scientifically accurate or just myths. "ignorance is a bliss" Matr ix-quote.

This girl seems really smart, a lawyer takes alot of studying but why does it take so many tragedies for her to read her own religious text? Is it the fact that the Quran was not available in her native language? How could she go through so much devotion and never have read the book? In Christianity and Judaism large scale secularization happened only after the bible was translated from Latin and Hebrew into the vernacular perhaps this will happen in Arab world as well but the unfair distribution of wealth & thus literacy makes it much more difficult.

Appreciate your story and how your transformation happened because how women are treated in Islam made you change your faith. You should now go beyond women in Islam and dive into how non Muslim or kafirs and your ancestors are were slaughtered over centuries especially in Pakistan and Afghanistan which were the epicenters of Vedic civilization. You are a very smart woman and you should research how and why your family converted to Islam because you are not from Arabia and few generations back your family were either a Hindu or from Sanatana dharma.

It’s non-intuitive to understand that all this complexity is just natural and no intervention of any being is required, it’s much much simpler and easier for humans t o believe that some being did it magically, especially when we are indoctrinated to believe from a very early age by our parents, teachers, leaders, elders practicall y everyone. And if we don’t conform to our parents religions then we can be shunned, disowned and possibly harmed. originally from Karachi Pakistan and Teer Haripur H azaara, now ex-Muslim Atheist .

Contemplate about this, how much more out there, who are struggling with these pressures. To ponder upon Islamic teachings, which they aren't willing to get along. But, they are scared, compelling them to pretend. On the other hand the Christians who go to church by their own will. If they are disincline you will not see them in churches. But be seen roaming out in the street. Now, the question arises, those who go to church, why they go? Are they compelled? Or, because they love. If, because they Love. What are the reasons. That made them love.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT BEING A HINDU? By Francois Gautier. Diversity in Divinity and Unity in Spirituality. 1) Believe in God ! - Aastik - Accepted 2) Don't believe in God ! - You're accepted as Nastik 3) You want to worship idols - please go ahead. You are a murti pujak. 4) You dont want to worship idols - no problem. You can focus on Nirguna Brahman. 5) You want to criticise something in our religion. Come forward. We are logical. Nyaya, Tarka etc. are core Hindu schools. 6) You want to accept beliefs as it is. Most welcome. Please go ahead with it. 7) You want to start your journey by reading Bhagvad Gita - Sure ! 8) You want to start your journey by reading Upanishads - Go ahead. 9) You want to start your journey by reading Purana - Be my guest. 10) You just don't like reading Puranas or other books. No problem my dear. Go by Bhakti tradition . ( bhakti- devotion) 11) You don't like idea of Bhakti ! No problem. Do your Karma. Be a karmayogi. 12) You want to enjoy life. Very good. No problem at all. This is Charvaka Philosophy. 13) You want to abstain from all the enjoyment of life & find God - jai ho ! Be a Sadhu, an ascetic ! 14) You don't like the concept of God. You believe in Nature only - Welcome. (Trees are our friends and Prakriti or nature is worthy of worship). 15) You believe in one God or Supreme Energy. Superb! Follow Advaita philosophy 16) You want a Guru. Go ahead. Receive gyaan. 17) You don't want a Guru.. Help yourself ! Meditate, Study ! 18) You believe in Female energy ! Shakti is worshipped. 19) You believe that every human being is equal. Yeah! You're awesome, come on let's celebrate Hinduism! "Vasudhaiva kutumbakam" (the world is a family) 20) You don't have time to celebrate the festival. Don't worry. One more festival is coming! There are multiple festivals every single day of the year. 21) You are a working person. Don't have time for religion. Its okay. You will still be a Hindu. 22) You like to go to temples. Devotion is loved. 23) You don't like to go to temples - no problem. You are still a Hindu! 24) You know that Hinduism ☺ is a way of life, with considerable freedom. 25) You believe that everything has God in it. So you worship your mother, father, guru, tree, River, Prani-matra, Earth, Universe! 26) And If you don't believe that everything has GOD in it - No problems. Respect your viewpoint. 27) "Sarve jana sukhino bhavantu " (May you all live happily) You represent this! You're free to choose, my dear Hindu! This is exactly the essence of Hinduism, all inclusive .. That is why it has withstood the test of time inspite of repeated onslaught both from within and outside, and assimilated every good aspects from everything . That is why it is eternal !!! There is a saying in Rigveda , the first book ever known to mankind which depicts the Hinduism philosophy in a Nutshell -" Ano bhadrah Krathavo Yanthu Vishwathah".... Let the knowledge come to us from every direction "....
