We often are educating family, visitors, and patients on the requirements of infection control and prevention. In nursing, we refer to the process as donning and offing and it may involve gloves, gowns, masks, and eye protection. It will certainly involve hand hygiene!

Hi, Nurse minder with contact precautions with a infected wound would you put on your gloves before entering the room and remove them before leaving?

You may have to change them while in the room as well - if the gloves get dirty, but yes, you don before you enter and doff before you leave

Pre covid, it was gloves only. Now, you need to check your facility policy

Suppose to take the gown off first with gloves still on, throw it away, then remove and throw away gloves... clean hands.
